This bum can't cover worth ****! He got undressed 2 times against Whittaker and again last night he got schooled by Harris. This is by far the worst linebackers the eskimos had in recent years as far as pass coverage is concererned, why is he still with the team? cut him already and put Munoz or Rastelli in there, any one of them can be better than this bum

Re: JC Sheriitt must be cut...NOW!
Maybe I am confused but wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago that J C Sheritt was being touted by pretty much everyone on this board for defensive rookie of the year. He is that same player today and simply needs to learn from his mistakes. And certainly he will have that opportunity this week in reviewing the game films. You have to realize that he is only 23 years old and came straight from college (Eastern Washington is not even division one) to starting in the CFL. That is a huge leap and quite frankly he has handled that progression very well -- at least up until the last couple of weeks. Cutting Sheritt is not the answer -- give him a chance to learn from his experience and realize that every other CFL team is going to try to expose his inexperience in every upcoming game left on the schedule.
Now that being said J C Sheritt could also have learned from watching another linebacker play -- especially after his fiasco against Whittaker in the Montreal game. Quite frankly I am a bit surprised that Stubler did not give Sheritt an opportunity to watch Mark Restelli play. Restelli hardly played versus BC and even when he did play it was not in his normal position -- pretty sure he played bandit and not WIL. One of two things happened there -- either Stubler is extremely loyal to the players that have been there from day one or Stubler is a bit stubborn -- or maybe both.

You are either insane or just don't know jack about football. You want to fire someone? Fire the defenseive coordiantor, LB's can't cover rb's in most any league at least not for long at all. If you are asking your lbs to cover backs and you are not making the qb get rid of the ball immediately you get destroyed. Oppsoing teams have found a weak link in how we play defense and they are exposing it. Sherritt is also a rookie. Sure bring in another hybrid lb/db in that spot, be prepared for teams to run for a buck fifty a game.

I think that the Esks's new 3-4 scheme has at times created a lot of confusion on the field.
LB's are too shallow on some plays and the opposition is exploiting the seam.
Run/pass responsibilities are not well defined or at least are not well executed.Last edited by moontoscott; 10-02-2011, 12:38 PM.

Re: JC Sheriitt must be cut...NOW!
Sherritt will be fine. BC did a great job of out-leveraging the LBs in man cover whenever the Eskimos sent more than four guys to rush the passer blitz.. Lulay gave himself time to throw with his feet and the rest is history.
Between Mark Nelson, Kavis and Stubes I am confident that the film work will be instructional and therapeutic. Doubt you will see this happen to Sherritt again this year.. One of the perks of having a great rookie linebacker combined with a top notch coaching staff.
I'd wager that after this week the safety or whoever is covering over the top will always be mindful of where the weaker match up is. In Cover 0 Sherritt will just have to use this film work to learn how to position himself better so that he doesn't get out-leveraged in the open field.
Give BC some credit. Their coaches saw something and they capitalized on it.

Anytime you commit to a certain matchup in match coverage, you will always have an achilies heel, but the odds you play is the QB can't find it in time because it's usually an outlet. What we're seeing is teams targeting that matchup and that will require adjustmentsOriginally posted by Jedrock43 View PostSherritt will be fine. Excellent post -- you know that each coach is going to try to find the weaknesses and then exploit them and much of the time it will include rookie players. J C Sheritt will be just fine but we will endure some growing pains.Originally posted by Diesel View PostAnytime you commit to a certain matchup in match coverage, you will always have an achilies heel, but the odds you play is the QB can't find it in time because it's usually an outlet. Montreal was successful exploiting the same match up against Whitaker as well.Originally posted by Diesel View PostAnytime you commit to a certain matchup in match coverage, you will always have an achilies heel, but the odds you play is the QB can't find it in time because it's usually an outlet. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Yea, I would give Montreal more credit as they were the ones who found the chinks. Bc just went the same route..Originally posted by Opus View PostMontreal was successful exploiting the same match up against Whitaker as well.
