Esks Add D Lineman to PR

I thought we had designated the NT position as a NI role? Maybe this guy has the speed to line up on the end but at that weight I doubt it...Link and article appear below:

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent import defensive tackle Josh Leonard to a practice roster agreement, the club announced today.

A product of the University of Hawaii, Leonard signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009 and spent most of the season on the Bucs’ practice roster. In 2010, Leonard had a brief stint with the Houston Texans before signing with the the UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions.

Before transferring to Hawaii, where he was a starter in his senior year, Leonard racked up 33 sacks in two seasons at Cierra Junior College in California.

Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says, “Josh is a strong and quick interior player. He bench pressed 225 pounds 41 times on his pro day evaluation. Josh can bull rush guys, split the double team and, for a big man, can redirect and pursue very well. Once he learns the nuances of the CFL game, Josh will give our staff an interesting interior option."

Its a practice roster signing. Doubt he dresses this year never mind plays. Maybe they are looking at him as an end not tackle. Or maybe there is flexibility in the roster that would allow a I at tackle.
      New coach, different results?

He's a stud..this gives us some flexibility towards the end of the season. With Leonard here, if there is ability with the ratio you could see an all I Dline...super quick, and nasty...

All ratio driven opportunities so if it happens it happens but for sure the potential is there. I like this signing.

I'd love for someone to explain to me just how that would fly on the ratio.

I suppose in preparation for next year maybe Coehoorn could start and if Laurent doesn't also get better in his second year... hmm... maybe having one import DT around isn't horrible...

Although I'm still waiting to see some tryout players brought in at positions of need - KR and OT

I would love to see some upgrades to KR, OT and K too.

Robinson and Leonard look really good. Robinson may see some time, JL plays big and straight ahead(more of an NFL style NT)-needs some work but, he is anxious to learn and he is a bright , athletic kid...I think that OPUS is right though, tough to make that ratio work out even if he progresses quickly with his CFL game.

The old 'we have designated such and such a position as NI or I is just a smoke screen excuse when cutting guys. There is no such thing as a NI or I position other than QB because the moment your start gets hurt you have to look for the best player to try and fill the gap and change ration in other places.

The only thing he should "start" is rehearsing, "Do you want fries with that?"

Maybe Stubes is working on some 4-3 sets; put in an Import at Tackle beside our NI and have a LB sit for a series?

Run the Ball up the gut around the horn it does not matter. We run we win what is so difficult to understand.

We should be phasing out RR and getting a New QB to replace Joseph for next year. Now that would be news!
If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?
