Schiv's missed FG on bad hold - intentional miss?

I meant to bring this up earlier in the week but forgot...just remembered now when I was doing the stats.

Anyone else think Schiv's missed FG in the 4th was intentional?

I figure he saw the low snap, saw the botched hold, realized he wouldn't get a great kick away...and held his follow-through back just a bit to put it where it went - way short and to the right. Basically held back on the FG and put up the best punt equivalent that was absolutely possible (bouncing to the 2).

I know he doesn't have as much leg as we would like, but that barely made the 15 yd line, IIRC...no way it makes the posts in a straight line. And the fact that it went so far right (halfway to the numbers)...even if he hit the laces, and I think he might've, that's one heck of a blown kick.

Regardless, if it was intentional, extremely smart play by him.

If not, then it turned out great for us.

not intenrional.. bad, snap.. ward got the ball the wrong way.. just ask ray finkle...

worked out ok for us...

but i very much doubt it was intentional

Landing on the 1yd line was a pretty good miss, so however he decided to do it is fine with me.

hard to say without asking him... It certainly does look like , after he saw the botched hold and the laces NOT OUT, he held back and made a pooch kick...

@esksfans true. By the time I got to the tee the ball wasn't on it yet. Had to give up on the kick and just get it down field.

A great play by Schiv. That kick was golden. By the time Taylor got to the ball he was surrounded. Great that he responded to you as well.

Agreed. That's an awesome heads up play. Too bad a reporter didn't think to ask him the same question. It would have been worthy of an article IMO. If he goes ahead and tries to kick it normally it perhaps gets blocked and ends up effecting the outcome of the game.

Wow... very smart play by Schiv. At the time I was thinking there was no way I'd ever seen a pro-kicker mess up a kick that bad, while intending to kick it normally still.

It was a bad snap, the ball wasn't even teed up as he was going through the motion of kicking.
