While I'm relieved to see that he's not playing out his option, I'm a little disappointed that there wasn't an ability to announce an "Esky for life" kind of contract. I understand that it might not be in Stamps interests to commit long-term when the contract is not guaranteed, but I would've hoped that there could be incentives or structures put in place to make that more attractive. To me, that is the kind of announcement that the organization needed, and while the 1+1 is nice, it also leaves something to be desired.

Who's going to believe there is such a thing as an 'Eskie for Life' even if a contract is signed. The most likely way to be an 'Eskie for Life' is probably in a back-up special teams role.

So, if everybody who leaves the Eskimos does so, at least in part, due to their distaste for Uncle Pervie, does this mean that Fred Stamps, at least in part, likes ********Mod Edit***?

My bad. I shouldn't have dragged Fred Stamps down to the level of ET. Sometimes my emotions just get the best of me. From now on, I will direct my hatred and insults only towards the board approved target of Eric ***** Tillman. I just get riled up when I see anybody doing anything to make the scum's life easier. And an incredible talent like Fred Stamps signing an extension with the Eskimos makes them a better team, which makes ***** job that much easier.

Yeah, I thought about "sign and trade" too when I first read this. Nothing would surprise me, now, but I don't think this will happen. Who am I kidding, though? I never dreamed the Esks would hire Tillman the first place. Anything's possible.

fred was shopped first looking for a high pick and a cdn. he took the short term in case things go bad he'll be easy to move in his option and can sign a new longer term with another team if he has to

I think you're mixing your signals Fedor.

We all know what he pled guilty to, and because of that there are labels that go with it. You're not wrong, it's just when it permeates every post to the point of continually reinforcing just that one point, your message gets lost in the translation as a sole attempt of being inflammatory.

I think that you have something to say beyond just focusing on labeling Sonic. Don't let your disgust obscure what you have to say.

Stamps is a good player, but I just don't see how anyone can expect him to achieve those numbers without Ray.

Wait a minute. Didn't the ET haters say that Esks were wanting to be traded ? Perhaps they're not as pissed as some would have us believe. I haven't seen one player bail yet. For a team that many here, say does not even have a QB. Or a chance in hell of doing anything in the 2012 season. I'm not seeing the exodus elsewhere. It seems the players think SJ can get the job done. They sure aren't heading for the lifeboats.

Great news. I believe Fred Stamps is THE premiere receiver in the CFL. The news that Esk FAs are resigning has given me optimism toward the future. Fred Stamps wants a ring more than anything in the world. If he didn't think he could get one in Green, and Gold. There's no way he would have re upped.

Come on people. There's lots of room on the bus. Jump on, and enjoy the ride.
