I do think that with that big NI stamped on his butt I would have gone after him harder and not let him go to a division rival. I guess ET thought the negotiation was getting too high, think we should have closed that deal though. The kid is from Regina and he probably wanted to play at home, sometimes a tangible in the negotiation when everything else is equal that turns the table.

As far as Davis is concerned, BC was also looking at him hard with Eliminian going south...Stubs wanted him and he would have made his life easier, guess Wally thought the price was too high as well.
of course, that would assume that ET had even talked to Labatte or his agent ... which he didn't. That's just bad GM-ing. And then to trot out the rhetoric ET did... Well that's just shameful.

Sigh. like my previous comment on how when you see Mtl do something that you wish your team had done you know your GM has been schooled. In this case... sent back to pre-school.
    Turf Toe:
    - "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
    - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
    - "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

I didn't read the article. If you have a link could you post it as it would be interesting to read.

LATE BREAKING NEWS OFF TWITTER -- It looks like maybe the same team that wanted Rod Davis that he didn't know about just signed Mark Restelli. Interesting that Montreal now ends up with two of our linebackers.

AND the Als signed Aaron Hunt too, this past Saturday. There's a reason why the Als contend every year. ET is screwing up. I'm beginning to understand why the Renegades stunk.

Logically, i don't see how someone can say that winning 3 Grey Cups with 3 different franchises is a fluke... or the person was lucky. You would have to be multiple lottery winning lucky to do that. That's one of the reasons i didn't hate ET from the beginning, nor do i hate him now and gave him a wait and see approach. He did fail in Ottawa though.

But, you think the roster the way it is now is good? It's still a long way to training camp so we'll see. Why not go after A.Hunt? Having AH, DO, Howard and Williams on the d-line would be great but, ok we have Laurent so maybe we didn't need AH.

But, i don't like our RB situation. Our kicking situation sucks and is weird right now. Who will replace Davis' big role? What about the CB's?

I get the strategy of younger and cheaper, but holding to some dogma and not wanting to sign VETERAN players because they are more expensive might be his undoing. I think DM overpaid veteran players and that probably screwed him. Now ET doesn't want to sign or pay any veteran older players. ET was the one who kept complaining last year on the radio that there are no vocal leaders in the dressing room. Ok, who on our roster right now is going to be a vocal leader?

Our RB situation is bad right now. Why not sign Cobourne? I would prefer Messam, but what if he sticks down there?

ET took over Ottawa when it entered the league in 2002 and stayed there until 2004 right? So he had to build it up from the ground floor whereas last year here and in ssk he just came in and worked with a base. It just seems that he really stripped down the Esks and removed large productive parts and replaced them with question marks. I haven't looked at it too closely, but i think all of the younger cheaper talent probably never came through in Ottawa and i hope it does here in Edm.

I'm not happy with this offseason so far. We could have kept Ray and done everything he did with Rottier, Don.O, Carr, etc...
All the savings from releasing Mongo, Bauman, etc... all the others over the past 15 months would have paid for these moves.

I'm not happy with the rb situation.. I don't believe Charles is a feature back..

There's time, we will see what tc brings..

The reason he won in Sask was that Glenn got hurt and Dinwiddie started his first CFL game in the grey cup.
Run the Ball up the gut around the horn it does not matter. We run we win what is so difficult to understand.

Without question. Dinwiddie's three INT's sealed that game.
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

I agree. We are really hurting at RB right now and it shows how dumb the moves of releasing Whitlock and Porter for nothing are. But I don't think paying a bunch of $ for Coubourne is a smart move right now. Import RBs are one of the easier positions to find luckily, so I'm all for a big TC showdown at that spot with a bunch of young rookie imports.

I can't really believe how little we have to show for all the "cap space" we cleared. Very disappointing. We could have signed a few more "overpriced" FA's and we'd still probably have the most available cap space in the league.
