Not as lopsided as our last trade with the Argos.

(Edmonton) – The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club has acquired a third round pick (26th overall) in the 2013 CFL Canadian Draft from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for non-import defensive lineman Jermaine Reid and the Esks best two fifth round picks in the 2013 CFL Canadian Draft.

“It has been a priority to reestablish ourselves in the draft. At this point, we feel very good about our position,” says Eskimo General Manager Ed Hervey.

Over two seasons with the green and gold, Reid played in 25 regular season games, two playoff games and registered 24 defensive tackles and three quarterback sacks. He also played in two playoff games in 2011. The Akron product was originally drafted ninth overall by Hamilton in 2006 and spent the first four seasons of his CFL career with the Tiger-Cats.

Getting rid of dead weight who contributed very little. Moves us up in the draft

It's interesting to see Ed move some players to gain some ground in the draft. There have been a number of moves over the off season involving a couple of bigger names, but mostly spare parts to get picks. I'm wondering if Ed plans on packaging 2 or 3 of the lower picks for a higher overall pick, or if he thinks he now has enough priority selections in the draft.
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

You knew something had to be done with the amount of NI -D linemen we had. Likely a good chunk of cap money saved. So this gives us the 1st pick in the 2nd round, 2-3rd round picks, 1-4th rd pick and a 6th rd 'er. The unfortunate thing is that when other teams know you are creating cap space you never deal from a position of strength. I have a feeling more moves might be coming.

Anyone remember how we got Reid in the first place? Was he a FA signing or did we trade for him?

Feb 16 to be exact. At least we didn't trade for him. I am ok with this move.
