Esks bring back WR Tyler Scott

    As per esks.com: http://esks.com/article/scott-returns-to-esks

Not sure if I like this move or not; he was injured all of last year, so I can't remember how good or bad or "meh" he was. Not only that, but I don't know where Scott will fit on the depth chart with arguably our two top NI receivers from last year, Coehoorn and Chambers, battling for playing time.

    Oh, look at this: http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/201...r-tyler-scott/

He's picked up on B.O.N.E. I thought that was chiefly an Esksfans term.

Maybe...but I feel for all the people who will be wondering what B.O.N.E. means...

Scott has been decent over the last couple of years here. I've seen him make some routine catches and some tough catches but he hasn't shown enough yet to say that he's in the same category as Cohoorne/Chambers in terms of potential. One thing we do know about him is he has a great attitude and seems like he is a good character guy in that locker room. I'm on the fence until we get more data on him.

I don't mind the Scott signing at all. If we're going to have two NI Recs pushing for starting/significant roles, it stands to reason that you have two more NI Recs capable of playing behind them. I think Matt Carter did enough last year to claim one of those jobs, and Scott is a known commodity with size and leadership. Not exactly Bauman-esque expectations.

B.O.N.E. was originated by the Eskimos' defense in the late 70s to replace "Alberta Crude". They've been using it a lot longer than we have been.

Is the Edmonton Sun going to come back looking for dirty pictures?
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Also keeps a solid NI WR off of another teams roster, and potentially gives us a position of strength to deal from if needed.

Re: Esks bring back WR Tyler Scott

Scott had some good production with very limited playing time. what's more he had two incompetent QB's that routinely overlooked him as an open receiver/contributing guy. Look for him to be healthy and be a reliable Canuck in the line up. The J & J fiasco made a lot of receivers suffer in terms of performance/perception and look more unproductive than they really are (look for Reilly and Nichols to change that perception quickly in camp).

We have a VERY competent group of receivers..... what we haven't have for quite some time is a good OC/system to let their skills come to the forefront and lead the offense.

He reminds me a lot of Andrew Nowacki and not just cause they're both white receivers but they're both classy team guys that don't showboat go out and do their job when their number is called, good hands, good route runners and very valuable to have so I'm glad he's back for another year and yes having someone that can deliver the ball to the receiver and not just in the general vicinity will definately help him improve.

Whenever I think of "Alberta" and "crude", I usually think of the Calgary Stampeders.

Either that or the current provincial government...
