Excellent article - thanks for posting it.
I'll repeat my disagreement with the HC repeating the phrase, "we're not good enough" and suggest that he could have said, "NO team is good enough to take stupid penalties that extend drives for their opponent". To me, Kavis just did enormous damage to his teams confidence (what little they had) by repeating that phrase.
Couldn't agree more regarding Willis' lack of effort on some plays...I'm not sure he is giving us good bang for the buck at that position. The choice to keep Willis regardless of his performance is a major weak point for Kavis as I'm guessing Lemon would have been just as effective for 2/3 the salary (or less). Kavis and EH are clinging to the memory of the dominant Odell of a few years ago - we've only seen glimpses of that player.
Willis is what willis is and everyone knows that. He gets to the Qb but he takes lots of penalties over a season and is not stout in other areas. I found it strange we chose that area to sign a big buck free agent when Dline was out strongest part of our team overall. We cut or traded a lot of good players.
Holy crap... Greg Frers is still on the CBC payroll?!
I actually kinda liked him and Darren Flutie back when CBC still did games, I wish TSN would tap one of them rather than Suitor
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.
You can add my name to those in favor of replacing Suitor.
To maintain balance in this post...I really like the job that Duane Forde does on the TSN broadcasts - he is very knowledgeable about the CFL and it shows.
"You lollygag the ball around the infield...You lollygag your way down to first...You lollygag in and out of the dugouts...You know what that makes you...skip?"

Your are right. There is a big difference in how you phrase things for your players. I am surprised KR did this as well. I've heard him speak about coaching and in those talks he says that it is important for the coach to set his players up for success. Finding what his players need is important.
I have been worried about the team's play under his direction. When there is a lack of adjustment he is not helping his players find success. When on a second and long and the play call is for a receiver to turn and stop 5 yards down field along the sideline there is little chance for success. KR is constantly saying to win in this league a team has to run the ball . . . lots. We get down a few point and then stop running. He goes against his own advice. I was concerned about his contract extension. Give him the rest of the year to show and then offer the extension (or not) depending on the results.

Interesting Kavis speaks the right words at a clinic and then things melt down during the game. Totally agree on your take on the game. You must have missed it but on July 6th the EEFC extended Kavis for an undisclosed time and money.
Taken in isolation, it's not such a big deal but when you consider that the EE have had back to back train wrecks with DM and ET it just makes the franchise look a little bit worse than the negative public perception that has already existed for the last few years. When Hervey talks about the "Eskimo way" --is this it? I don't think so.
When opponents see this sort of thing they have less and less respect for the EE mystique which has all but faded away. It doesn't help too much with EE fans either. The CFL is no longer an easy sell in Edmonton.
My guess is that KR has all but sealed his fate now. Hervey must have shuddered to think that a week after the extension, the cameras would give you an unblinking look at a guy who appears to be in over his head. It looks like more turmoil ahead.

Agree. If the Esks are not playing good football and have a bad record that's one thing. But, creating a circus like joke atmosphere is inexcusable. That's why I hated last year. I'll give Kavis a sliver of a pass for this, but he can't act like this anymore. Better to not even meet the media then. Although if you can't trust your coach in front of a live mike... :-/
I wonder if it was an act to send a message to the players through the media. Maybe try that. I just want to watch the Esks play some decent football. *sigh*

"Lollygaggers..."
"Lollygaggers..."
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to boydo again.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
