What do we do with our QB's?

Alright...so the games are over. The stats are in:

    Game One:
    RR: 9/12, 115 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT
    KJ: 8/14, 72 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
    JM: 0/1, 0 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT
    JJ: 13/17, 155 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

    Game Two:
    JM: 9/11, 124 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 0 Sacks, 1 Rushing TD
    KJ: 12/18, 156 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 4 Sacks
    JJ: 4/6, 66 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 0 Sacks

    Two questions:
    1) What would you do if you were the head coach?
    2) What do you think the Esks will do?

    Man, that's a tough call.

If I'm the coach, I'd try and trade KJ, and keep the other 3......but I have no clue what the Esks will do right now.

Ricky Ray as the starter if I'm the head coach, Maas as the second string QB, Jason Johnson as the 3rd string QB.. put Khari on the IR, or trade him.

          1. I start Maas in game 1 if he's good to go. Jones and Johnson back-up. Ricky Ray gets 100% healthy. When they're all healthy Jones gets an "injury" and is on the disabled list until Hamilton realizes that McManus is 48 years old.
          2. I think the Esks do the same thing except that Johnson get put on the practice roster or injured reserve instead of Khari.

RR is the Qb if he is healthy and is probably the QB for the future so it's a no brainer to keep him. Perhaps he will be in the IR.

Maas is an effective backup so keep him on on IR until he is 100 percent.

KJ is good insurance keep him as long as possible or trade for a versatile RB.

JJ should be kept as you need a young developing QB and he was the 2nd best QB in the pre-season.

Therefore KJ is the only one that is expendible dues to his age and salary. TRADE him for TROY DAVIS!

If Maas started and had a hot hand what happens when RR is 100% healthy? I dont think we keep Ray as a backup for one second. If Maas plays 4 games and is great would we throw Ray in there once hes healthy? Decisions....controversies....its going to happen this year I think.

Once Ray is healthy you would have to think he will get the rock regardless. This game is not always fair.

Life isn't fair. We all have to deal with it so it is needless to worry too much :-)

Re: What do we do with our QB's?

It depends on whether or not Ray and/or Maas are completely healthy. From the sounds of things, Maas looked pretty impressive tonight, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's 100 percent, especially since he wasn't completely healthy last year but still performed well.

                      3 scenarios:

If Ray and Maas are both ready to go by the beginning of the season, than Jones goes. Ray is #1, Maas #2 and JJ #3.

If either Ray or Maas are healthy enough to go, then you play the one and put the other on the IR. Johnson would be #2 and Jones #3. Once both RR and JM are completely healthy, then Jones can go.

If neither Ray nor Maas feel than they are well enough to play, then you give Johnson the start. If he struggles up to midway through the second quarter, then Jones goes in. How else can you evaluate JJ unless you test him in a game that means something in the standings? He's had better stats then KJ in the preseason, so he deserves precedence.

Sooner or later we will get healthy hopefully and then Khari must go.

If you put JJ on the PR there is no way that some team would not grab him. I think he has to be on the roster and use Khari for trade bait...Hamilton or bust!!

I could see Ray going on the 1 game injured list for Friday and then take it from there the week after.

Your best shot is with Khari starting the season. Get Maas and Ray 100% before unleashing them. Johnson looks good but you cant start him over Khari experience.

If they management is smart they play Khari, device a gameplan that doesnt depend on Khari being a hero, take a page for the Riders offense, ball control, and a balanced attack. You've got a solid defense, and lets face it, Ottawa isnt such a formidable opponent.
