About khari jones, I know the coaching staff is kind of leaning on him now, I dont think he's got the mobility as he used to, got droped 4 times tonight and I guess people missed some blocks when he was in there in the 3rd , but the oline looked good tonight

I dont think hes washed up yet though he can still be effective

Alright...so the games are over. The stats are in:

Game One:
RR: 9/12, 115 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT
KJ: 8/14, 72 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
JM: 0/1, 0 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT
JJ: 13/17, 155 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

Game Two:
JM: 9/11, 124 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 0 Sacks, 1 Rushing TD
KJ: 12/18, 156 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 4 Sacks
JJ: 4/6, 66 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 0 Sacks

Two questions:
1) What would you do if you were the head coach?
2) What do you think the Esks will do?

The obvious answer is trade KJ simply because RR and JM are proven entities in Edmonton, both with GC rings and experience in Maciocias offence. Plus common sense tells us that Danny is and should be loyal to his guys. IMO JJ has talent, is younger, and is a more affordable option as a #3.

OTOH, I still don't think JJ is ready to start in the CFL just yet. I'm not feeling good about RRs knee (at least not yet), or the fact that JM has had surgery on his shoulder, back and had vetebrae problems.

Sure we all know what our two starters can do, as RR and JM both reconfirmed vs Winnipegs secondary, but I also noticed that KJ had our only two touchdown tosses in the preseason even though hes the least familiar in our offence. He doesn't always look good, but he always manages to put points on the board. So until I'm sure RR and JM are healthy, KJ is a relatively cheap veteran insurance policy and I don't really want to make anybody else a better team.

IMHO, we have four quarterbacks better than Winnipegs starter, and everybody elses backup with the exception of B.C. of course. Coaches always say "You can't have too many good QBs". I wouldn't move any of our guys anywhere, except maybe to IR, and that could apply to any of them at any time.

I could see Ray going on the 1 game injured list for Friday and then take it from there the week after.

thats probably gonna happen, Ray is tough, so maybe he can play vs ottawa. If he cant go, and Maas is feeling good enough to go by then hes gotta start. im confident tho becuase we have the guys here who can just follow the gameplan, just run the offence man, we got the recievers to make enough plays, then just get our running game locked down, mclendon/joesph combo, we crushed the bombers in total net offence tonight.

IMO the reason we saw such a heavy dose of Khari in both games (aside from the RR injury) is that we are trying to showcase to the league that he is still worth something of value in a trade...

From what we've seen of JJ, there is no way we're cutting him loose, or giving another team the opportunity to snatch him away. KJ's days are numbered, how they resolve the roster until that time comes is the real mystery.

Dont agree, I think we're seeing so much of him is because hes the starter for week one. Khari Jones wont get much more than a sack of footballs and some water bottles in a trade, and your better off keeping him until the two others become healthy.

I can't see someone really giving up anything for Jones, the Esk's don't need him so it's likely IMO there going to have to cut him.

just wait until someones starter falls to injury, there are a few fragile QB's out there....Jone's value goes up considerably should someone be knocked out for an extended period.

I keep reading posts where people say trade Khari Jones. I really don't see this happening, Jones will have missed TC, and as such will be a month behind when he gets picked up, he really will not be valuable enough for teams to trade for him. Of course there are a few teams in the East that are shallow at the QB position, so who knows, but something tells me that Jones value as trade bait would have been greater a month ago than right now, of course I could be proven wrong.

*edit* I realize that Jones will have attended Esks TC, but this will not translate into being up to speed with another teams offence, I think his biggest problem right now is that he is learing his 4th offence in just over 2 years (2 with the Bombers, 1 with Calgary and now Edmontons) IF he gets traded he will be on number 5.

IF both JM & RR are "100%" then for the hoopla that has been that past month RR should get the start Game 1...hard for me say since I'm a Maas fan but that's just my opinon.

If only one of JM or RR is "100%" then that man definitely gets the start...from what I read of the gameday review Maas sounds "100%"

Going on the preceding assumption that Maas is "100%" then Khari is our back-up QB until we can find the man a nice new home.

JJ for as good as he's looked in the pre-season...IMO should not move ahead of Khari on the depth chart until Khari is moved.

I worry about a couple of things....

1. Is Maas' shoulder 100% or close. I dont wanna stick him in just cuz RR is hurt and KJ has not performed "really" well. Just dont panic....is what I am saying
2. KJ.....From what I heard from last nights game it sounds as though KJ is playing somewhat better. Sounded like he was a bit tentative which led to pressure and 4 sacks (Of which I dont know how many were cuz of bad protection). I think KJ is the unknown in the equation.

As for the status of KJ......It is SO hard to judge what to do here.....If either RR or JM are in the IR come the start of the season then I would guess that KJ will be around, but when we have 4 healthy guys the pathway becomes somewhat muddled. Who do you keep and who do you put on the IR/PR, cuz I am gonna guess that if you put JJ or KJ on the PR that he will be gone.....

Too many ?'s.........
