Game thoughts
1. Well, it was a pretty good win overall for the Esks but if they're going to beat a team like Montreal or Toronto they need to cut down on the penalties. Undisciplined play needs to stop, it was a momentum killer, and a drive killer tonight.. lucky it didn't cost us the game.
2. Chris Kelley looked good on the one reception he had tonight, the guy has speed to burn, and he isn't afraid to come across the middle.. I'd like to see him get more balls thrown his way.
3. That was no blocked punt on Fleming, the defender clearly contacted Flemings leg before he contacted the ball... another reason why instant replay is a must in the CFL.. can't afford to have these types of plays blown.
4. Great distribution of the ball tonight by Ray, I think atleast 8 different receivers got a reception tonight.
5. Mike Bradley looked amazing on his first 66 yard romp up the middle for a TD, but he kind of died down after that. I like what he brings to the running game, however I don't think that he is the answer, hopefully Joseph is ok and will return against the Montreal Alouettes.
6. Mobley, bud you had a monster game! 2 sacks, way to go.. absolutely set the tone for the defence early.. seemed to throw Tee Martin off a bit in the early stages of the game.
7. Ricky Ray played great as always under limited protection... 470 yards, 2 TD's, 0 INT's... he still has a bit off rust to shake off.. but look out when he get's 100% accurate with his throws.
8. Davis Sanchez is a great addition to the Esks this year, I remember alot of people didn't want the Esks to pick him up.. but after his performance tonight, you can't honestly disagree that the Esks didn't benefeit from this signing... great hit on Stegall at the end as well.. clean.
9. O-Line needs to improve, horrible job protecting the QB tonight. With the starters likely returning in week 3 we should be better against Montreal, better be, or else we'll be in trouble.
