    Dispersal Draft Predictions?

Any thoughts? This is going to be really interesting...

    Something like:

Ham: Banks or Armstead? (Maas to Armstead is decent!)
    Wph: Joseph
    Sask: Armstead or Banks
    Mtl: Haywood, Collier, Ellis, Woodcock?
    Tor: See Montreal.
    Edm: Khan
    Cal: Woodcock?
    BC: St. Germain?

    1.) Hamilton - Armstead (they'll have a fantastic offence!)
    2.) Winnipeg - Joseph
    3.) Saskatchewan - Woodcock
    4.) Montreal - Korey Banks
    5.) Toronto - Brad Banks
    6.) Edmonton - Khan
    7.) Calgary - Ellis
    8.) B.C. - St. Germain

Something tells me that the Riders will go with a receiver in the draft if Joseph is already gone. I see Calgary grabbing Ellis as it sounds like Abdullah might not be playing this year. Montreal will just go with the best player available and us and B.C. will be the two teams desperate for help on the O-Line.

By the way, isn't Haywood a free agent?

I dont think wpg will go after Joseph. WPG had a decent offence with a young QB but the defence was not great i think they'll go for Korey Banks. And Joseph may fall to the riders.

I'm too depressed to think about a dispersal draft. I hate losing teams.

          Same here.

Man...like it or not, and I don't know whether they'd have kept the same sort of system next year, but we just lost one of the most entertaining teams in the league to watch. Paopao had flea-flickers, swing passes, long bombs, etc.etc.etc. and he wasn't afraid to use them . And Armstead, Ranek, Joseph, Yo Murphy, all really exciting to watch ...going to be real weird to not see that in black/red/white this year.

I mean, I think overall it's for the best that OTT fold now and start fresh later (if they do)...but it still sucks.

Are you guys sure we're picking 7th and not 9th? Wouldn't the order be much like the college draft?

Perhaps not, just asking... losing the 'Gades sucks in any case
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

I would assume that the Esks would pick 9th.

              ...Actually 8th.

I'm hoping they pick 6th but I'm guessing they pick 8th. That could be a big drop as BC will pick right before us and will likely take an offensive lineman to help out with their pitiful core.

I believe it goes in order of overall standings which would put us at 6th, not sure where you guys are getting 8th from, cuz we definitely didn't finish ahead of 4 teams in the West. 2 teams beat us so there should be 2 below us in the draft.

Interesting that it was the Riders who moaned and bitched for a salary cap, and since a cap was put in place for them, they only years they've won they broke the salary cap rules.

In the entry draft teams are ranked as to how they finished in the playoffs. So the Esks draft last because they won it all. The Al's are next to last as they lost the GC game. The reg. season standings determine where non-playoff teams draft.

I would imagine any dispersal draft would have the Esks having last pick.

Jonathan Huntington's projected top 10 Renegades in a dispersal draft of team players:

                          1. Kerry Joseph - QB, import

                          2. Jason Armstead - WR, I

                          3. Kyries Hebert - LB, I

                          4. Val St. Germain - OL, non-import

                          5. Pat Woodcock - WR, NI

                          6. Korey Banks - DB, I

                          10. Kai Ellis, DE, I

                            Picking the carcass
                            By JONATHAN HUNTINGTON, EDMONTON SUN

Danny Maciocia suddenly has more work on his hands.

The Edmonton Eskimo head coach was already preparing for next week's CFL college draft, but now has the task of determining what parts to pick off the Ottawa Renegade carcass.

With the CFL mothballing the Renegades yesterday, a dispersal draft is around the corner.

A formal date hasn't been set, and it's unclear if the remaining eight teams will be allowed to have expanded rosters to handle the influx of players.

But one thing is certain: Maciocia isn't going to specifically target one area of his team to improve on when the dispersal draft starts.

In other words, the offensive line - which is in a state of limbo with three possible veterans disappearing - is not the main focus.

"Our philosophy is take the best player available," said Maciocia.

"I'm pretty happy with our offensive line. I think I might be the only one in Edmonton who thinks that."

The Eskimos will pick last in every round of the draft, meaning big names like quarterback Kerry Joseph, receiver Jason Armstead, offensive lineman Val St. Germain and defensive back Korey Banks will likely be long gone.

But the first two rounds should produce some solid additions and make competition even tougher at training camp.

MAJOR CHANGES: The Eskimos' schedule has been turned on its ear because the Renegades have disappeared for 2006.

The Green and Gold will still play 18 regular-season games with two byes, but will now have to battle the Calgary Stampeders four times, including a home-and-away series to start the year.

"We're going to start with a bang," said Maciocia, who takes his club to Cowtown to open the campaign on June 17. "I think it's pretty exciting and our players will be up for it.

"Calgary will be a force to be reckoned with, and it shows we don't pick the CFL schedule."

Since coming to Edmonton five years ago, Maciocia has heard the rumours that the Eskimos dictate how the schedule is drawn up.

Based on the initial 2006 slate, the Esks opened their home schedule against the hapless Renegades.

GOAL LINES: The CFL schedule maker ensured the Eskimos still have their traditional Labour Day series with the Stamps. However, Edmonton fans will not see Jason Maas return to Commonwealth until Sept. 22 ... The Eskimo brass wanted to open the year against Hamilton ... A kink in the schedule allows the Green and Gold to spend the entire month of July at home ... Every game will still be on TV this year.

                              OLINEMAN, PLEASE!!!!
Take the top one you can get from the Gades Roster. A good Oline is what makes a team go. After that, I would like them to pick a DB. A few of our guys are getting close to the end of their careers. K.Banks would be great, but I doubt he will be available after the first round.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.
