Yup, I was dissapointed by the effort last night.
Beat by a team minus a QB!!! Disgusting!!!
That was the poorest effort by the Eskimos in the past few seasons. This team certainly isn't playing to it's full potential.
Did the offense skip the pre-game meal?
I can't say I agree with Mobes that he knows his teamates gave 100% effort. Whatever happened to the 110% effort line?
As has been said, the D was the brightest spot. One couldn't ask for more from them. They must have been tired after all those two and outs by Maas. I give them a A+.
Maas had the worst game of his career. End of story.
Some of the blame has to go to the coaches. One word that fits the plays they are sending in this year - PREDICTABLE. I thought our offensive co-ordinator was suppose to be a genius.
Fleming. Nice kicking, especially the punt that went out on the one yard line. It was sure dissapointing watching you QUIT on the kick return. At least that was how it looked from the stands. To me that symbolized the Eskimo effort thus far this year. A veteran that wasn't willing to take/make a hit.
But Fleming wasn't alone. Not one player even touched Arland. To be fair, I thought the first guy was clipped and there were a few holds. These were obvious on the replay as well.
On the 109 yard drive. Again, I thought they officals got involved once again. It was clear a ball on the Argo side of the field was a "one bouncer". Once I saw the replay I was assured it was the wrong call. In addition, the TD catch itself was out of bounds. On the replay it also looked as though this was a one bouncer too. It was certainly out. I am not certain if the pass bounced off the ground or the players finger tips though. But it was out.
This team certainly doesn't look like a defending Champion. I don't think they will be able to pull it together unless someone really stands up and becomes a leader in that dressing room. I hear Pringle went nuts for ten minutes after the game. I'd love ot have been a fly on the wall.
A little boy wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey said as I left the game that the Eskmos were a disgrace to Edmonton. Unknown to me my daughter heard this as well and asked me if I thought it was true when we got home. Of course I told her "no". If anything they dishonored themselves by not showing up to play.
It is too bad the D has to wear the same label as the rest of the team.
We are still better then Winnipeg and the Riders. But those may be the only games we win the rest of the season. A 9-9 season after the Grey Cup? Pathetic!
At the start of the year we had a powerful team on paper. Our offense equaled or bettered BCs. Our D got the thumbs up over BCs as they (BC) had more rookies.
What if we would have got Buono instead of BC? We'd have a winner.
