    From Champs to Chumps

Yup, I was dissapointed by the effort last night.

Beat by a team minus a QB!!! Disgusting!!!

That was the poorest effort by the Eskimos in the past few seasons. This team certainly isn't playing to it's full potential.

Did the offense skip the pre-game meal?

I can't say I agree with Mobes that he knows his teamates gave 100% effort. Whatever happened to the 110% effort line?

As has been said, the D was the brightest spot. One couldn't ask for more from them. They must have been tired after all those two and outs by Maas. I give them a A+.

Maas had the worst game of his career. End of story.

Some of the blame has to go to the coaches. One word that fits the plays they are sending in this year - PREDICTABLE. I thought our offensive co-ordinator was suppose to be a genius.

Fleming. Nice kicking, especially the punt that went out on the one yard line. It was sure dissapointing watching you QUIT on the kick return. At least that was how it looked from the stands. To me that symbolized the Eskimo effort thus far this year. A veteran that wasn't willing to take/make a hit.

But Fleming wasn't alone. Not one player even touched Arland. To be fair, I thought the first guy was clipped and there were a few holds. These were obvious on the replay as well.

On the 109 yard drive. Again, I thought they officals got involved once again. It was clear a ball on the Argo side of the field was a "one bouncer". Once I saw the replay I was assured it was the wrong call. In addition, the TD catch itself was out of bounds. On the replay it also looked as though this was a one bouncer too. It was certainly out. I am not certain if the pass bounced off the ground or the players finger tips though. But it was out.

This team certainly doesn't look like a defending Champion. I don't think they will be able to pull it together unless someone really stands up and becomes a leader in that dressing room. I hear Pringle went nuts for ten minutes after the game. I'd love ot have been a fly on the wall.

A little boy wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey said as I left the game that the Eskmos were a disgrace to Edmonton. Unknown to me my daughter heard this as well and asked me if I thought it was true when we got home. Of course I told her "no". If anything they dishonored themselves by not showing up to play.

It is too bad the D has to wear the same label as the rest of the team.

We are still better then Winnipeg and the Riders. But those may be the only games we win the rest of the season. A 9-9 season after the Grey Cup? Pathetic!

At the start of the year we had a powerful team on paper. Our offense equaled or bettered BCs. Our D got the thumbs up over BCs as they (BC) had more rookies.

What if we would have got Buono instead of BC? We'd have a winner.

A little boy said they were a "disgrace" to Edmonton? That's hilarious and kinda sad too. Just shows what kind of ignorant remarks kids can pick up from the ignorant adults in their life. At least you set a better example for your daughter, there's never a need for kids to trash teams, they're too young for that. Besides, if the Eskimos are a disgrace to Edmonton, what are the Maple Leafs to Toronto?

Yes, this record is pathetic for a defending GC champion team, but that happens in pro sports all the time. Teams win the title or finish near the top and are a bust the next year. It souldn't exactly be shocking. It's not like they're the worst team in the league. Besides, there have been 8-10 teams to win the GC in recent years.

I'm really disappointed in them too. It's just too bad that Maas and the receivers had an off-night when the D was playing decent and keeping the game close. But I know that we've got a lot of talent, heart, and pride on this team...they'll be working their butts off to secure second in the West and I doubt they'll ever have such a pathetic showing at home ever again.

      I don't know man.

Buono has the benefit of having two QB's better than any we have...

haha you look alot like the riders from what i saw from the highlights. giving a worse team the win, your lucky this one wasnt televised or i would have more ammo. after that effort a win against winnipeg and sask is anything but automatic so dont get ahead of yourself.
I told those f***s down at the league office a thousand times that I don't roll on Shabbos!

          I agree.

On the lighter side, it could be worse...see Calgary, circa 2002.
At least we've already beaten that .

When we were 0-3, I said it looked like a 9-9 season. At times it seemed like it would be better, but that will probably be the record now.

This team is just too inconsistent to win anything. I can't imagine them winning three straight playoff games.

Have we won a close game this year? It seems if we face a bit of a fight, we can't get it done.

I thought the D played well, though they were pushed around by the two tight end set Toronto came out with.

I thought the Argo TD was out of bounds as well, but it was close, and it really wouldn't have made a difference. That was a disgrace to give up a 109 yard drive to a team QBed by Bishop!

Fleming didn't quit on the kick return. The returner was farther away from Fleming than he looked. No way Flem was going to get him.

              Maas fumbles too much.
Taylor Field. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Things look bad right now but I actually think we are going to be back in the cup again this year. We'll end up in 2nd, win at home against either Sask or Win and I am veryyyy confident we will beat BC in BC if we get that far. I've seen too many teams with average regualr seasons get hot at the right time.

Yeah, I agree. It was one bad game, relax everybody!!

Did you see Jason after the game, was he was PO'd or what? He knew it was a bad game, and the team knew it. There ain't no way we'll see another game like that.

With the stinker they served up to us I think they deserve the criticism.

I actually found it disturbing that she thought about it so long (the ride home on the LRT) before she mentioned it to me. I'm glad she mentioned it to me and I am glad I set her straight. It was like her heart was broken when she heard it.

It goes to show how easily a child can be effected by a comment at the game.

My daughter loves the Eskimos. She was all decked out in her Eskie jersey and Nanook foam head. I wonder if my wife will ever get to attend a game with me again?

If the Esks do make the playoffs on a sub-standard season, the playoffs are a perfect remedy to redeem themselves. The CFL only requires that you make it to the playoffs and then let the chips fall where they may, as many 3rd place teams come out of the West, it is just that close.
