Love it... Syvret was going no where here (at best right now, you'd have to sot him in at what... #14? You have the 8 NHL guys, Chorney, Peckham, Wild, Petry, Young, Rourke all ahead of him.....) and Potulny is a guy with great hands who at the least should be able to chip in at the AHL level.
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.
DAMN IT!! Don't waste posting space on that crap. That's not a trade. I see Oilers Trade and I got all excited but it is a trade for guys who probably won't make the NHL. I know Syvret won't. Looks like that Potulny put up some ok numbers in the minors. I give Klowe props for getting more than a bag of pucks for Syvret.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

IIRC Rourke actually signed a contract with a pro team in Germany recently.... but I digress.
Agreed Syvret has been a big flop for the most part, and with the glut of guys we have ahead of him in the bigs and the AHL no reason to waste a roster spot in Springfield on him. Potulny is a guy who agreed can at worst help out scoring in Springfield, which dropped off greatly after Schremp, and possibly make the Oil as a forward down the road.
He's Rob Schremp lite. At one point he was considered the best prospect the Flyers had after Pitkanen.... then he got hurt a couple times. Offense only, but he brings a lot of offense. His high end would probably be Marty Reasoner pre-ruining his knees, if he puts the effort in.
Odd fact?
He's the draft pick we traded for Dopita.

Kind of like trading a 6th round pick in the draft for an established kicker?
