The Isles picked him up. I wish him luck but in my opinion, he won't pan out to much more than maybe a PP specialist. I just never thought he was good enough.

One way or another its good to see this soap opera come to an end.

I have never seen an Oiler draft pick generate so much controversy and it got to the point that it was silly. In terms of internet threads Robbie lead the league in posts per game.

Really, what was the big deal? All kinds of 1st round draft picks never play in the NHL and end up working at Canadian Tire. Bring on the next but I do wish him good luck in the Islanders organization and who knows? People said that Comrie would never come back either.

What I never understood was the overwelming out cry to have this guy in the line up. He never did anything to deserve it. He is a small, poor skating, non physical, non gritty, lazy, poor defensively player that was supposedly good offensively. BUT he never scored any points. He put up big points in junior. WHo cares, everyone does. But he never put up any significant numbers in the minors.
So what if he can bounce the puck on his stick, that kind of crap only works in practice.

Schremp isn't the 1st guy to fail to translate success in junior to the NHL, and he won't be the last.

Good riddance. This guy will never be a decent NHL'er and will end up playing out the string over in Europe somewhere.

The only negative here is that it reduces our depth in Springfield.

Reddox just got put on waivers, too. Nilsson is rumoured as well.

Reported today in the journal the Oilers are $1.7 mill over the cap (sans whatever Schremp was making - probably NHL min. - still leaves ~ $1.2 mill, though).

Tambo just may pull off a shocking trade before too long.

If no team puts in a waiver claim, can both then be sent to Springfield??

Nillson's contract is a bit rich for the AHL, but at least his salary won't count against the cap. Is Reddox on a 2-way deal?

Tambo needs to pull off a shocking trade in the next day. They have to have their roster set by tommorrow and I would assume they have to be under the cap by then as well.
They can trade Pisani, Pouliot, Nilsson and I would dance. He could trade Moreau and Staios and I wouldn't be too upset.

So, if these guys are picked up when we put them on waivers, are we still on the hook for half their salary?

I remember something like that for the Sean Avery situation last season, but can't remember too well.

When you look at today's actions and see how the Oilers are scrambling to unload salaries you realize just how important cap space is.

It is mind boggling to see how many teams are either right up against the cap or so close that they can't make a move. Financial management at its finest

I remember something like that for the Sean Avery situation last season, but can't remember too well.

The 50% salary rule only applies to re-entry waivers -- if another team puts in a claim when we send 'em down, we take their entire remaining salary off our books, but if they get claimed when we bring them BACK, we pay 50% of their remaining contract.

Trades may be tough to do at this time of the year as all teams have to pare their rosters and be under the cap as well.

For every first rounder that makes it there are plenty that go the way of the DoDo (the Swiss Miss and Bonseniour to think of a couple right away). Schremp had his chance with a new coach and could not make it, so it is time to move on. With him only signing for a year in the first place it sounded like his last chance to make the team.
