    What is Hemsky thinking?

    Just shoot. Save the theatrics.

    Re: What is Hemsky thinking?

He needs to show some intensity. He's way too lackadaisical with the puck.

Oilers are getting outshot heavily in every game. Eventually it'll catch up with them. Bulin was great tonight.

The Oilers are playing Quinn Hockey and are on the puck at every turn. They are making fewer mistakes than last year so far. The Lames are gonna take a beating the likes of which haven'y been seen in years! Watch out agrinla.
      Go Oil!

Can't complain too much about a 5-2-1 record.

And that's with the top line doing absolutely nothing...

Horcoff gets a breakaway... makes a nice move, gets poke checked.

Hemsky gets a breakaway... makes Luongo go down, and rifles it over the net.

I look for a beer and remember I have another midterm tomorrow, so instead just curse..

As for what Hemsky was thinking? He was getting it to his forehand to make sure he didn't pull a Stefan. Rexall ice is embarrassingly bad these days.

My bigger concern was Gilbert doing his best pylon impression with Wellwood baring down on him and no time on the clock. He's better than that... a lot better than that.

                It sure will.

Important to note that they kept it close tonight until the last minute scramble.

Scoring chances have actually been pretty even most their games (Chicago and Nashville not with standing...) though, and that's the big thing to be worried about.

A closer look at the PVR shows Luongo got a piece of the Hemsky shot.

And, sorry man, but it's plain as day that Horc just fans on the shot completely. He wasn't able to get the puck to calm down, but it was a total miss. Luongo just knocks the puck harmlessly away.

If Horcoff is hurt, and all reports indicate he is, he needs to get healthy. Tonight was a very bad night for him overall, and he won't help the team one bit if he continues to play injured.

Oh, he was struggling a ton tonight, no doubt. I'm not too worried about the offense, it'll come (he's shooting what, 5%? right now, that won't keep up), but he was getting mauled on the draw and the turnovers were hurtin'. They also need a real LW that opens up the ice and adds puck support... neither of which JFJ is doing.

I think both are. And both need to get healthy in a hurry. Neither has that extra gear that makes both of them so effective.

... and I swore that Hemsky missed the net cleanly and Luongo caught the shaft of Horcoff's stick when he dropped it behind him. That puck was definitely bouncing all over the place the whole way down though.

... of course, we can't fix our ice plant that's 10 years past it's expiry date because we "need" a new arena

Agreed 100%. It's not fair to scream bloody murder about either guy right now, IMO. Hemsky has been hurt since preseason, and Horc is skating on a bum leg, and it's gone a long way to hinder their starts this year. We are just going to have to bite the bullet and get these guys some time off the ice before matters get worse.

                        Re: What is Hemsky thinking?

The other day I heard Mike Brophy say that maybe it's time for Quinn to really get on Hemsky's case. Since Hemsky threw MacT under the bus for the Oilers' style of play and proclaimed that he was going to step up and start carrying the team offensively, he's done absolutely nothing. Being saddled with an obviously injured and struggling Horcoff doesn't help matters for Hemsky but I agree that, as soon as he's healthy, somebody should seriously rattle his cage.

                          Two thoughts:

                          1. Anyone who asked about the Bulin signing saw last night why it was important. He was ridiculous!

                          2. An injured Horc and dead weight in JFJ give Hemmer absolutely nothing to work with. I know Quinn likes balanced scoring but we need Penner on that top line...

Horcoff should throw some of his money at goalies when he is on a breakaway, then he might at least score a goal.

That would be me, but I didn't question the signing, I questioned his play in the first two games.

Since then he has been awesome.

But full blame goes to me for questioning his play.
