Went a PPG in the AHL last year, decent size... other than that, I know nothing of him.
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.
Re: Oilers Claim Ryan Jones on Waivers from Nashville
Leads all Nashville forwards in hits.

Can he skate?
Looks like a great move on the surface though. He's had some nice scoring years in the NCAA, some nice seasons in the AHL, is old enough that he shouldn't be a huge liability in his own zone, and obviously brings a lot of grit.... and costs absolutely nothing.
Hope he plays tonight.

Did anyone else laugh when this wasn't included in the Grebs trade, and then the Oilers pick him up for nothing? He absolutely snaked the Preds on that one....

Yeah, weird, especially given that the Oilers obviously had first crack at anyone on waivers.
Likely means at least one forward is headed out of town though.

Full marks to management for this pickup, costs nothing but some $$, kid can skate at least reasonably well, throws the body around, and has scored goals in the NCAA and AHL.

Re: Oilers Claim Ryan Jones on Waivers from Nashville
Is there some kind of Voodoo curse at Rexal?. They bring a guy in and 2 games later he blows out a new. A brutal cheap shot by Boogard but man the Oilers are just getting destroyed by injury. http://www.edmontonsun.com/sports/my.../13148736.html
Re: Oilers Claim Ryan Jones on Waivers from Nashville
It's time overdue for someone on the oil to take one for the team and dish a big heaping plate of payback to Boogard. This isn't the first time he's cheapshotted our guys into injury. Someone needs to implant a sherwood into his teeth and have him spit out a dozen or so chickletts or deliver a Muni to that guy's knee and basically end his career.
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

This is what is so wrong about what the NHL has done to fighting. At one time fighting acted as a deterrent. Now it is a silly little code where players line up to fight for no apparent reason.
The NHL had more players who repsected each other when if someone did what Boogard did he knew he was going to pay for it. And the NHL is a joke in the punishment they dished out.
I love Pat Quinn's comments about the reffing in the last two games (which has been horrible). He said we were getting 30th place referee decisions.
