Ferraro is shameless... when a european does it he's diving... but when Scheifle does it, it's "great selling"
Selling? What is this wrestling?
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Hard to blame Scheifle for doing it with the crap that was going on... the first Slovak who had his head grazed and laid down like he was shot until it was upgraded to a five minute major and then scored shortly after?
Shameful.
Going down easy is one thing, faking an injury is a whole different world.
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.
Regardless of how bad the refs have been according to some, hitting to the head in international play is always a penalty. So both Canadians got penalized and that's that. There shouldn't have been a 5 and a game on the one but they need to stay in control, otherwise that'll bite them against the Americans and Russians.
I'll finally get to watch a game live this weekend. Kind of pumped about that.

I don't give a rats ass who does what on the ice... but as broadcasters just don't harp on one side for doing it then jerk off the other team when they do the same thing.

The problem is this....
#1) The first hit gets upgraded because the player is laying on the ice pretending to be hurt. Suddenly becomes 5 minutes. It's supposedly a head injury, but he isn't required to sit down for even 2 minutes?
#2) The second hit goes from a clean hit (exact quote from the REF) to being upgraded to 5 minutes when the stretcher comes out for the guy the trainers have already sat up... defeating the entire purpose of a stretch outside of making it look worse.
Could be an issue against the Russians. Not sure.
Won't be an issue against the Americans, but their players won't flail around pretending to be hurt after every hit.

Fair enough; though I'm more willing to cut guys a break in national tournaments like this... that's probably not the best logic, but it doesn't break me heart when Ray has the pom poms out or Cuthbert lost his mind for Crosby getting the winner.

And you lot complain about soccer. I always said hockey was just as bad. And it's getting worse.
There's a reason they call it euro-crap....

Whatever you say, Don. Canadians are doing it too.
Sure, some have. Mike Smith in the playoffs last year is a great example.
It's far more prevalent to see a Euro laying on the ice in these tournaments right until the call is changed though before miraculously recovering... and yes, I consider that much worse than falling down from a crosscheck.

It's all cheating. But it's a myth that Canadian kids aren't diving as well. They are and in blatant silly ways.

There's not a guy in the game that hasn't gone down a little easy at some point when he's known he can't make a play on the puck and he's got a stick in his feet. No disagreement.
It's the faking an injury bit that I hate and is immensely different in my eyes. Any time a penalty is upgraded because of presumed injury to the player, I'd like to see it contingent on that player not being able to return to the game.... probably the only real way to fix it.
