You DON'T cheer for Calgary. EVER!

Uncalled for. As far as I'm concerned, if the Oilers are out of the playoffs, fans have a right to cheer for someone else if they choose to do so. It doesn't make them bandwagon jumpers, it's just that they take pride in the fact that an Alberta team (or Canadian team for that matter) is in the Stanley Cup finals. These people aren't moronic, and nor should they be ashamed. Being an Oilers fan doesn't require you to be a Flames hater, and being an Eskies fan doesn't require you to be a Stamps or Rider hater.
    Go Eskies!

I'm pretty sure that was outlined in the manual I got.

      ABC = Anyone But Calgary.

Mine was Greztky's shorthanded goal over Vernon's shoulder in game two of the series that we swept.

I don't know if I actually have a favorite Oiler goal, but my favorite Oiler memory was the 1990 Stanley Cup run when Billy Ranford came into his own and won the Conn Smythe.

That's fine, believe me I understand the rivalry and couldn't care less about anyone else but the Oilers. It was his generalizations I felt were way off mark.

Being an Oilers fan DOES require you to hate the Flames. Just like being a Yankees fan requires you to hate the BoSox.
All those so-called Oiler fans who drove around town with Flames flags hanging out of the their car windows were exactly what you say they weren't. They were bandwangon jumpers. they were morons, and ought to be ashamed and move to Cow Gay Ry.

Re: The reason why the Oilers will finish ahead of the Flames

I think that the biggest problem is that the Edmonton/Calgary rivalry has been diluted for several years now, due to one of the teams not being as powerful as the other. It used to be that whoever won between the Oil and Flames automatically went to (and most often won) the Stanley Cup. Throw in the titanic tilts the Eskies and Stamps had around that same time, and it led to some real, honest hatred between the two teams. Fast forward a bit, and the Flames didn't even make the PLAYOFFS for years, and hadn't won a playoff series since 1989 to 2004.

When the two teams both become strong contenders again in EITHER sport, you'll see the hatred and rivalry return.. bring it on!!

Edit: You know, you're probably right about this. I've been called a traitor on more than a couple of occasions by Lions and Canucks fans.

Just a wild guess, you cheered for the Flames last year didn't you?

                          Flag and all? Correct?

Not only is it the first three of the twenty six, It can also be found in the Oiler Manual:

                            Page 1, Item 1.

                            Page two, rule 1.

It is also part of the Oath of Allegiance.

                              You're completely wrong, I didn't have a Flames flag.
