    Oilers/Canucks - February 4, 2006

    Biggest game of the year!

NORTHWEST GP W L OTL PTS GF GA PP% PK% HOME AWAY L10
    Calgary 54 30 17 7 67 143 138 17.4 82.5 18-5-3 12-12-4 5-3-2
    Vancouver 54 31 18 5 67 184 164 19.0 81.0 18-3-3 13-15-2 7-3-0
    Colorado 54 29 19 6 64 199 174 20.2 85.1 17-7-5 12-12-1 5-2-3
    Edmonton 53 28 18 7 63 174 164 17.6 83.3 11-10-3 17-8-4 4-3-3
    Minnesota 54 26 24 4 56 156 140 17.3 88.6 16-11-1 10-13-3 6-4-0

After tomorrow, the Oil will either be six huge points out of first, or two miniscule points behind the Canucks and Flames.

Edmonton is 3-6-1 in their last 10. Vancouver is 5-2-3.

Auld has emerged as a legitimate #1 in the NHL and he'll be in goal for the Canucks. I would expect MacT to come back with Morrison (8-2 on the year), even after a pretty good showing from Markkanen. Of course, it is extremely difficult to predict what MacT will do.

Vancouver played a hard game tonight in Calgary and there is no excuse for the Oilers not to come out and take the play to a tired Canucks team. It's time to step up and prove you deserve to fight for first place!

    Oilers win if:
    - Morrison starts.
    - They play up-tempo intense hockey.
    - Minimize turnovers.

I'm expecting a lot from this one. They better not let me down!

HUGE opportunity to make a big leap in the standings... I'm hoping the Oilers come out with some major intensity. I'll be going to this game and hopefully the crowd really get's behind our home town team... it's make or break time.

      You betcha!

But at this point of the season, in this conference, every game is going to be the biggest game of the season.

          Go Oil!

Wow, any idea why they have such an awful home record but such a great road record? You guys must treat 'em really rough up there
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

I'd feel better about the Oiler's chances if they were playing this one in Vancouver. But, if the Oilers get good goaltending, minimize turnovers, and stay out of the box, they have a good chance.

Well the Oilers blew a great chance early with an anemic power play that couldn't even get set up in the Canucks zone...

Gotta be tough and smart boys!

1-0 Oilers after the first. Good showing.
                Go Eskies!

That was a solid, emotional, disciplined game by the Oilers. Outshot the Canucks 40-17, including 14-1 in the third period!!

Not much to criticize tonight, but they still need to get Hemsky to stop trying to make that pass through three defenders on the PP.

I thought our goal-tending was atrocious.

Wicked Haad's save on Carter was huge.

Morisson is now 9 and 2. No doubt that he's earned the #1 spot....

And I wonder if we will spend our money elsewhere, instead of a goalie??????
