Re: Horcoff Signs!!!
Not bad...
Horcoff will earn $3.6 million a year after making $1 million last season, making him the second-highest paid Oiler after goalie Dwayne Roloson, who earlier this summer signed an $11-million, three-year deal ($3.66 million average).

Re: Horcoff Signs!!!
Agreed. He was going to be a UFA after this year, so I think it's a bargin when everything is said and done.Originally posted by DieselThey had to pay that much to avoid free agency for a few years.
Looks like their are still some players that want to play here.

Re: Horcoff Signs!!!
If he continues to improve then this deal will be a steal for the last two years, we will be saving money, time, and the hassle of resigning again next year. This way we hold on to him for a lot longer.
I'm glad this is done, and also happy to know that Stoll feels the same way (about wanting to be an Oiler and not planning on going anywhere, this a direct quote on the radio to Jason Gregor), so here's hoping we will here more good news very soon.

Re: Horcoff Signs!!!
3.6 is more than I thought he would get back in March, but seeing what everyone else is getting on the market, it is probably a bargain now. Anticipate Hemsky and Stoll getting north of 3 mil a piece too. Only bad part about this is that Smitty will command 5 next year for sure.

Smitty won't, Smyttie mightOriginally posted by TraxyOnly bad part about this is that Smitty will command 5 next year for sure.
However, Smyth might take a discount depending on how badly he wants to finish his career as an Oiler....it won't be a big discount but we might be able to keep him for 4.5.....

I can't see Stoll getting that much as an RFA. I'd be surprised if he got more than 2-2.5.Originally posted by Traxy3.6 is more than I thought he would get back in March, but seeing what everyone else is getting on the market, it is probably a bargain now. I agree the Horc signing is about what was expected. He's giving up two years of UFA where I could see someone throw 4.5 his way, so in that light it's a fair deal.I thought I wanted a career; turns out I just wanted paychecks.

How do you figure Smyth is worth more than Horcoff?Originally posted by Party TimeSmitty won't, Smyttie might

Horcoff had more assists, points, a better +/- (despite tougher opposition), plays a more important position, played just a little less than Smyth, despite much less TOI..
He's the best player on this team, and deserves to be paid like it. How to be Shawn, great deal for the team and for Shawn
... I'd rather see Smyth walk than pay him $4,500,000 - ESPECIALLY after his showing in the playoffs.
