Re: Sykora may be close to being an Oiler

Does this signing, if it happens, make a guy like Schremp expendable as possible trade bait for a defenceman? With that lineup, I don't see Schremp making the team, as he is not really a 4th line type player. I expect Winchester to join the big team this year, but unless Rafi gets a demotion to play on one of the more physical lines, where does Schremp fit in?

It's possible. Schremp is likely to get 3rd line time with PP time. I expect Reasoner to be the 4th line C.

Personally, I wouldn't bet the house on that. Winchester, for the most part, has disappointed me. For a guy so big and strong with such a good shot, he hasn't done much. I wouldn't project him to be anything more than a fourth line winger.

        I hope I'm wrong.

There are a lot of kids fighting for about 2 or 3 spots on offense, and 2 or 3 spots on defense. That includes the spots in the press box.

He's actually a left-handed shot and can play all three positions. Even Howson said so: "We think Peter could help our power play and he can play all three forward positions," said Howson.

Our RW is pretty deep...if we sign Sykora, I'd expect to see him on LW a lot.

Also keep in mind that Pisani is a left hand shot as well and could move to that side.

Usually kids don't sit in the pressbox, getting good ice time in the AHL is much better for there development.

Unfortunately the Oilers have NO AHL AFFILIATE...so the pressbox might be the only place for them....

Do you think Hemsky could have some chemistry with his countryman Sykora?
