Re: Schremp struggling in first game
That's not "struggling".
That's getting maybe two or three practices in their system, with unfamiliar teammates, and being thrown into the fire against a good AHL team in the Moose. He had 2 shots and one minor penalty for hooking.
And WBS won in OT...so I think he'll take that over anything individual. We're cheering Fight Fight Fight On Eskimos...

Re: Schremp struggling in first game
His first game amongst men? Only a couple practices with the team? Gretz didn't get his first goal in 1979 till the third game.Originally posted by AndrewNo just what I expected actually, he's not going to tear it up like many think.
It sounded like he had a decent night for his first night out there. If you were expecting the next incarnation of Rocket Richard...you're greatly mistaken. *edit* Even the Rocket was considered too small and thought would be ineffective at the start of his career.
Additionally - any report on amount of ice time he actually got? There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Once again, no this isn't what I expected. With everyone thinking he should crack the NHL maybe a point would be nice, but so far looks like sending him down was the best choice, just as I have said numerous times.Originally posted by Steve Vale

Gotcha. Guess I hadn't been paying close enough attention in the Schremp threads.Originally posted by AndrewOnce again, no this isn't what I expected. The nice thing is that for the first time in a long while, we can afford to wait.Originally posted by AndrewIt'll take a few yearsI will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Re: Schremp struggling in first game
I'm really glad they sent him down. He needs a year playing pro hockey under his belt. There is a big difference in play from junior to even the minors let alone the NHL. You dont have 20 year old men playing 16 year olds like you do at the junior level. I am from Red Deer and I watched Phanuef play for the Rebels as a 20 yr old during the lock out, and let me tell you, it was actually pretty pathetic to watch at times. Phanuef was so much bigger, faster, more polished than half the guys he played against for the simple fact that he was 2-3-4 years older than alot of the guys were. It was literally a man playing against boys. It wasnt even a challenge for him.Last edited by Sectionq; 10-05-2006, 10:25 AM.Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.
