Buffalo Bills to face Pittsburgh in first game of eight-game series in Toronto

    The following from Canadian Press:

    Cheers,

    SH

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - The Buffalo Bills will play the first of eight planned games in Toronto this August against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The exhibition game will take place Aug. 14 at Rogers Centre. The Bills will also play a regular-season contest in Toronto later this year, but neither a date nor an opponent was announced.

The expectation is Buffalo will play the game in December after the Grey Cup to avoid scheduling problems for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts.

The Bills will open their exhibition schedule at Washington on the weekend of Aug. 7-10, with further details to be announced at a later date.

The two contests are the first of eight Buffalo will play at Rogers Centre (five regular-season, three exhibition) over the next five years.

If they ever play the Jets there I'll make an effort to go.

Five weeks after some of the most powerful figures in Canadian sports appeared together to promote the National Football League's eight-game foray into Toronto, fewer than 20,000 people have registered to join the queue for tickets.

But then the first real marketing push is still to come.

Between 15,000 and 16,000 have signed up for the chance to watch the Buffalo Bills play a series of exhibition and regular season games at Rogers Centre over the next five years, according to sources requesting anonymity. The series will begin with a pre-season game in August.
