FIFA makes me want to puke....

No seriously. They gave Christine Sinclair a FOUR game suspension and a fine for what she said at the olympics. A bunch of proven corrupt *******s that happily ignore the years of players diving all over the place has the gall to throw that kind of punishment after a heated game in which the ref made a horrendously controversial call. Sports just sickens me at time.

    Brutal, burtal decision by FIFA.
I hope she appeals because this is a horrendous penalty on their part.
A fine would have been enough of a punishment.

Did the ref who made that call get suspended? Most likely not...

The call was certainly brutal, and I likely would have said the same thing in her position. But you just don't call into question a referee's motives, and suggest the possibility of a fix to the press. As much as I love her as a player, that was a suspendable offense. (Although 4 games is a lot.)
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

I'm curious exactly which 4 games these are... if that's just friendliesor general tournaments, this is just FIFA trying to look tough while only giving a slap on the wrist... though considering Canada is hosting the next World Cup, even if it's for qualifying games those really aren't worth anything to Canada either.

So, it sounds steep but this is just FIFA trying to look tough cause there is next to no actual consequence. Not really surprising either, that's FIFA's M.O. at the best of times, and after how badly they've been exposed for match fixing recently they're going to be even more touchy.

Odd if it's only Sinclair that gets punished, and makes their grand standing even more obvious.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

I support Sincy 100% for how she handled herself and the leadership she showed in doing it. I think she represented Canada proudly, and stood as a role model for a great many in standing her ground and stating her beliefs.

With that said, I saw Cam Cole make the statement that there isn't a sport on earth that would likely not suspend a player/participant for stating that they were fixing games. Sinclair's actions, as right as they were IMO, were also worthy of sanctions and suspensions. Just because she was likely correct in her statements doesn't mean that she is given free reign to speak the truth. I would hope that FIFA doesn't bury their head in the sand and not look at the cause of her actions, and dole out similar or more substantial penalties for those involved in such an obvious corruption of the system.

          I'm not holding my breath.

Looks like they can be served in friendlies. She was planning to take some time off anyway, the CSA should schedule a couple nothing friendlies or enter a nothing tournament (if they aren't already). It's just a token suspension.

Unlike when Stalteri got four games (one for a red card, and three more from FIFA) for throwing a water bottle during qualifying. That was a 4 games with bite... this is just posing. If FIFA really wanted to hit hard they wouldn't have let her play the bronze medal game, that would have been infinitely more of a punishment... but with Canada hosting in 2014 and 2015, they wouldn't even dare.

In other soccer news... apparently Cuba brought 16 players for their WCQ in Toronto, and as of game time, only have 11 left as five have defected already

The fact that they waited two months before notifying anyone of this is a complete joke.

Agreed with what most everyone has said.

This comes off like MLB suspending a starting pitcher 4 games... trying to sound tough while really doing nothing, cause in a five man rotation he doesn't even miss a start.
