    Pronger not happy in Duckville already

    Al Strachan, TEAM 1040 Vancouver

    While on the outside everybody was saying all the right things, the picture is already not that rosy with Pronger in Anaheim. While personal issues were cited, the monetary issue was a secondary and large component. Pronger thought he scored a wicked contract post lockout era and when Kevin Lowe asked Pronger last summer what would it take to come to Edmonton, Pronger wanted to be in the top echelon of salary for defensemen.

    This summer of signings last year and now this year has Pronger steamed. The escrow component of the CBA will probably bring down his salary to 4.2 to 4.5 mill in order to pay Chara his 8 mil.

    Kevin Lowe would not renegotiate Pronger's contract, discussions were had, all of the sudden the personal issues then became a high priority for Pronger. While Kevin Lowe admitedly felt the Pronger situation was a kick in the ___. Consider the trade to Anaheim a counter punch.

    Pronger will now have to deal with Brian Burke regarding renegotiation. If Kevin Lowe probably said No in a professional manner, Burke will probably tell him to EXPLETIVE right in his face.

    Pronger is not happy in Anaheim, and he hasn't even laced them up yet.

      Hey Yoko how's Anaheim?

      And Chris - just remember that Burke graduated from Harvard Law. Not saying that KLowe is any pushover...just that Burke would tell him to EXPLETIVE in his contract too under some brilliant legalese.

          Whatta loser....remember Strachan is the one that broke the first story....so IMO likeliness is that it has some % of truth to it...

                  Well now, the truth comes out. The BS "family" issue was really that the number in the bank account wasnt big enough. The more I hear, the more I am glad he is gone. Sure he is a damn good defenceman, but if the guy is a dick, he isn't worth it. He is starting to sound like the T. Owens of the NHL.
                  Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

                    Don't take this story as the "truth" just 'cause it fuels your hatred towards Pronger.

                    Al Strachan is the NHL's version of Marty York and is a slimy P.O.S. in my opinion.

                      Really, this article appears to be speculation and heresay. If there's any truth to it at all it might just be a coincidence...

                      We all resent what Pronger did, and I have no problem with people no liking him, or booing him or whatever, but this article reeks of bitterness and resentment.

                          No, the family issue was real. This was secondary.

                            The two were friends growing up in Ontario. That is why Al has been getting fed inside information.

                              I said when this story first broke that money was the real issue and not personal problems. Virtually no one agreed with me but I knew that with people like Pronger that there is never enough to satisfy them. His ego simply wouldn't allow anyone to be paid more. What a greedy, worthless little sh*t.
