    Meaningful Power Rankings, coming soon!

That's right! I accidentally put my brain to work on making easy to understand power rankings based on simple mathematical truthes! Once I get the actual calculating part done (I'm not good at math, just brilliant on the concept level) you will have a new, definitive, reliable power ranking every week!!!!!!!

Each team will have a number between -10 and 10 likely with a slight bias towards higher (a 0 rank is more, "some good play and some stupid plays" then it is "current middle ranked team") See each week and ongoing here at Esksfans! The first forum to host Mac's Marvelous Mathematical Match-up um.... Rankings!

Well, I'm hoping he'll help with a coupel of calculations I'll need, so it better have!

I won't explain the formula right away, so I can get some basic feelings from folks on how accurate they seem without any judgment on the process. I expect them to work MUCH better than the CFL ones, though (If Sask is bottom of the winners does Hamilton not NEED to be bottom of the losers?)

Why do I get the feeling that some creative "mathematical truth" will somehow always keep the Bombers overrated?

Because you've read some of my posts?

Nope, this will be straight up. For all I know it will end up looking wrong to me, but it's based on a theory by the most hard-core football junky I know, just turned into easy-to-judge numbers by me!

Better be ready for Opus complaining that you didn't factor in what hasn't happened yet... and only what hasn't happened yet in his mind counts...

Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Don't get me wrong...I...like most other Esk fans out there...take great pleasure in slogging the stubble jumpers at every opportunity but how do you figure that last week's performance where they annihilated the TiCats earns them bottom of the winners honors...which I would presume places them 4th in your 8 team power rankings...just wondering.

I believe he's talking about where the CFL.ca mathematical power rankings have the Riders ranked... in fourth.

I know you've never fully grasped the concept of "for example" a third ranked team having a higher power ranking playing against an 8th ranked team by comparison of a 1st ranked team playing a 2nd ranked team....but hopefully Mac's formula takes care of that.

Ooh, math guy on the case! Prepare to be bored If Sask is the bottom of the winners, I'd say that means that they were deemed to have won the least convincingly. This would imply that Hamilton lost the least convincingly, which would put them at the TOP of the losers.

I haven't seen the CFL power rankings, but early in the season, they used to put some weight into the previous year's results.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.
