Re: 4th time in 7 years
Bud, not even you can defend your bretheren's generational fables told to children in the cradles about how we supposedly outspent the wheaties by 10 million and had 15 rosters worth of players and blah, blah, blah.
Facts are facts, the wheaties simply do not respect the SMS as over half the time they go over. Why should other teams work to stay under? This AFTER all the creative accounting that goes on! LOLI will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Re: 4th time in 7 years
Not shocked. Sure that number is way higher.. give it up for creative accounting and the league protecting their current golden nugget
Riders and their fans can go eat a big bag of dicks. All they did was bitch and bitch they couldn't keep up with the over spending teams ( despite themselves where spending the same if not higher ) now that they are REPEATEDLY over the SMS they go and spout off **** like " good job! , Money well spent, do it again! etc"
league really needs to look into upping the fines and ever moreso for repeat offenders..
FU Riders and Rider fans.

Re: 4th time in 7 years
Normally, in any other league that wants to take itself seriously, there are consequences for "being creative"...forfeited draft picks, suspended coaches/management, and fines which actually result in some pain for the payer.Originally posted by Esks4ever View PostNot shocked. But call the Riders out for blatantly disregarding the integrity of the CFL? Naaaawwwwww...you gotta protect the league's golden gopher SOMEHOW...
Keep an open mind, and you never know who might walk in...

Re: 4th time in 7 years
****ing cheatin' bastages.....that Cup should have an asterisk placed beside it now in the record books. You can't do it without violating the cap, then it shouldn't count.
Here is a linky...

Hypocrites are the reason that the cap is in place.....and then they turn around and violate the **** out of the rule they wanted in place.Interesting that it was the Riders who moaned and bitched for a salary cap, and since a cap was put in place for them, they only years they've won they broke the salary cap rules.Originally posted by TraxyIf his moral character isn't good enough for the goddamn Saskatchewan Roughriders, it sure as hell isn't good enough for the Green and Gold.

Re: 4th time in 7 years
It's a pretty small amount over the cap, which I have a very hard time taking seriously. But the repetition of the violation year after year is more serious.
Maybe they should have a multiplying factor: double the fine if it's your second violation; triple it for the third; and so on.
Yes, it is. Perversely, it verifies the Rider fans' old claims that overspending buys you a Cup.Originally posted by BaronAmongYou2 Cups in that time too, I think that's somehow relevant.Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

Re: 4th time in 7 years
It doesn't matter if it was 1 penny over, it's cheating...
That's not whining or sour grapes.. There breakin the rules and the other 7 teams are not.. If it's ok then what's the point of the rules??
17k is zip compaired to winnin a cup...
Penalties need to be way harsher for offenders. And even harsher for repeat offenders..
Perhaps we need an astrix after this grey cup seeing how their cheaty cheaters..

Re: 4th time in 7 years
Until the CFL ACTUALLY does something a little more serious than the $17,000 fine they got, which they can pay for with the Grey Cup they hosted, nothing of significant consequence will really occur.
Glen's idea of multiplying the fine is a good start but picks should taken away automatically, no matter how much you are over. If you're over, you're over. End of story. This doesn't do anything for the credibilty of the "salary management system" the CFL has in place. It has no teeth so if you're over by a bit oh well, give us some money. With CFL teams doing fairly well financially now, this is peanuts.

Against better judgment, I took a peek at RF...and found that this was the general redneck reaction...

Re: 4th time in 7 years
Obviously my team is guilty here and is deserving of all the flak. That said, I think this says more about the lack of a real consequence if anything else. I'd pay the 17k again if it meant a grey cup. I think to change this, you have to make the fines costly or take away draft picks. The riders haven't been the only guilty party in the past and they were the sole bad boy this year, but it'll happen again and to other teams too, so it's up to the league to change the rules. But it's a soft cap as long as it's just a fine up to 100k as far as I can see. I'm gonna keep emotion out of this discussion, cause it's a league problem.RIDER PRIDE is where its at!
