Interesting theory. However, I can think of a few names throughout the league that Hamilton didn't want that seem to be holding their own...

    Didn't Goss just get P.O.W?

Aaahhh...what do I know. Say what you will, but I think Cheat has some still left in the tank. He's a talent, and it's difficult to shine in Hamilton these days it seems.

    Go esks.

It was my understanding that Goss spurned Hamilton...not the other way around. Maybe I'm wrong?

I think there are some great athletes on that Hamilton squad who just can't play to their potential. Hey, we got 2 great players from them this off-season, so I can't complain.

Ebell is good but not in the class of the elite backs like Roberts, Smith, Reynolds, KK, Lumsden yet. Maybe the new back is the jackhammer type we need as a complement?

You expect that out of Ebell after a handful of games? Come on man, give the kid a break. Give him a full season under the belt first.

Ebell is fine... you gotta remember he still has his shoulder problem.. and we need a decent backup as well, Goldie dont cut it no more...

                    Re: Cheatwood Signed

The Cats traded Wayne Smith and DJ Flick for Rocky Butler.....enuff said about their gm. Where was this guy when we had Bart Hendricks? And people bitched when the Esks and Hamilton had two trades that about evened out in the end.

I recall quite a few RB's made huge impacts after the 1st few games. Ebell is good and has potential is all I'm saying.

                          Re: Cheatwood Signed

maybe i`m on the ebell bandwagon i dunno, but i would take him ahead of any of the starting backs in the cfl right now.. even roberts..

best average in the cfl & if we actually played him instead of goldie u would see numbers comparable to the other staters in the cfl.. look what he has done with the touches he has had. ( the punt return in sask his only bad play so far.)

i think the kid has big talent & i get excited by the prospect of having him on our team.. just my opinion..

i agree, give the kid a full season like esks4life said.

& on cheatwood i think if he is fit & judging by the tests he has had to pass his fitness is not an issue, i think we got a good solid player who makes things happen.

you included Lumsden in your list. It was not until this year that he has established himself as a legit threat. The case is no different with any of the other guys you mentioned. They all had to progress from guys with potential to legitimate elite backs. Very few made huge impacts from just a single game right out of the gate. Most spent time on a PR or the like before they even got their shot. Even then, it wasn't until they proved over the course of a full season or more that they were consistant that they truly got the respect as proven. Don't forget Ebell had 132 yards out of the box against Winnipeg.....give him some time, we'll see what we really got.

My guess with Goss is he just got sick and tired of being on a crappy team. A player can only take so much losing before he has had enough.
Whatever the reasons were, who cares. All I know is he looks pretty damn good in Esks skins.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.
