15-3?

    15-3?

    Got into a back/forth email discussion with our good friend 56Parkies the other day, & it got me pondering...

    In all seriousness, I can't recall a team with the depth this team seems to have since the '81 team that went 14-2 -- and I was there on the inside, so that's REALLY saying something!

    We (they) have depth - particularly in Canadians - at just about every position, and that's scary! The only thing that evens out the playing field, IMO, is the "injured" list. If these guys are really injured, then the rest of the league is in the running.

    OTOH, if our beloved Esks are doing their classic "hide-a-player" act -- and whos' better at it, really (BTW, has that really happened in the past, or are the other teams in the league a buncha whiners???) -- then start plannin' the GC parade -- I'm serious!

    IMO this team is better than the crew of misfits that went 16-2 in 1989.

    Quite honestly, this team reminds me of when I was 21 (don't ask!) and the Esks themselves were quite literally the ONLY team in the league capable of beating them...

    We could be witnesses to something very special this year, kids...

    Whoa. I'm optimistic too, but this is overboard. Way too soon.

      Let's play a few games first. It's not how much talent you have...it's how you play as a team.

        I'd rather be pleasantly surprised with a record of 12-6 than disappointed with the same record. This team hasn't been above 10-8 for several years, so they've got to prove themselves first. They look good on paper, but then so have a lot of other teams over the years. Let's keep expectations under wraps.

        And I do not want a repeat of 1989, thank you very much!

          Whoa there big fella, simmer down there...... there is still ALOT of football to be played before November rolls around! Remember that it wasn't long ago that our braintrust had completely depleted our Canuck talent thru horrible drafts and pissing/trading away draft picks (on a freakin' kicker who couldn't kick.... but I digress).

          While I would give DM a certain measure of credit (WOW.... I can hardly believe I just said that) the real kudos goes to our scouting corp and getting a coach who actually knows football and expects/demands certain types of skill sets/players to push everyone else to a higher level. Remember, we can get bite pretty hard in the ass by the injury bug and if so the real acid test will be alot of these guys stepping in and the team not missing a beat... then I'll start unpacking my thermal undies for riding the aluminum horse in November!

          I admire your enthusiasm but there is still WAAAYYY to much unknown at this point to be spoutin' off like a Stump/Rider fan... cautious optimism bro.... cautious optimism!!!

            Calgary is still the class of the league for now. I think a slightly better record than last year is realistic.
            If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

              U know, I agree 100%.

              I picked us to go 14-4 as I felt we left 4 games on the field last year, games this team won't lose

              15-3 is very possible

                First off, this is bad karma.....

                Excitement is good, but no one knows how this year will play out just yet. Anything could happen.

                In the grand scheme of things, the changes we make should translate into at least 2 more wins than last year (again provided all goes according to plan). That is what I am hoping for....and then to cause some playoff damage.

                    Less than 12 wins will be a disappointment, more than 12 is a bonus

                      Interesting that it was the Riders who moaned and bitched for a salary cap, and since a cap was put in place for them, they only years they've won they broke the salary cap rules.

                          as much as I'd love for that to happen.. its still too early to tell what'll happen.. sure we are better off than we have been in the past few years.. but to go this far is a bit much atm.. But its good to be excited for this season

                            The Eskimos have some real areas of strength but some real shakey areas as well that have not been tested under fire (ie our seconday.)

                              And even then. . . the Green and Gold were 6-3, gave the Stamps the whooping of a lifetime, and then s*** the bed the rest of the season. Honestly, if the Esks go 9-9 and win it all, I'd be happy. Let's see how the back 9 go. . .
