Full predicted depth chart heading into TC....

The attached file is my predicted depth chart heading into TC. Thought I'd post it to try and spark some debate. I'll be honest, I am not as knowledgeable as some of the posters here when it comes to which body types fit best at certain positions. I did my best using my somewhat limited knowledge in terms of which body types fit best, as well as considering what position the Esks' website has players listed as, where the players have played in the past, in addition to making my own predictions too. I put the defence down as a 3-4 formation, as it appears as though there is a good chance that this will be our base formation.

Feel free to comment, or suggest changes. Had a bit of trouble listing SBs, since the Esks' website only lists 3 SBs going into TC, and also had difficulty with the secondary and linebacking corps as well.

thanks for the effort esks123 - lots of challanges guessing our d allignment - we'll hafta see how this plays out. I still think there are a few more key D signings to come... (hope )
Despite the rawness of the coaching on offense, I think Stubes is the guy who's gonna be working overtime to make it happen!
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

I think the O-Line will have some starting changes.

Ramsay, I think he could start at LG over Koch. I don't think Koch will survive training camp as the starter. Either Mitchell or Ramsay will start.

Curious to see how this defense is going to shake out, especially the D-Line.

          Whitlock or Porter?
          Porter or Whitlock?

Those are my 2 biggest questions?
Also if we will have a rookie starter?
          14 and counting!

Looks awesome Esks123. Wish I had your technical abilities, shoot it took Piz to help me figure out how to edit!

Reid is the Nose, Curry and Peach will fight it out..Peach wins. Curry will be a strong back up.

TJ Hill will compete for the safety position challenged by Robbie Vaughan. Hill is my choice for field general for the EE-D (I don't know if I like that, it sounds like a reallly big bra or bro as Kramer put it)......here is the deal though, maybe Stubs gets his mind around it and goes with Richardson and we start 3 NI's. Honestly, don't see it happening.

I like Clarke, good athlete, I think he platoons with Alexander based on game plan.

My chart has Tyler Scott in front of Nowacki. Whitlock before Porter.

            Mitchell could start.

Still hoping for a kicking miracle, not that happy with any of the 4 we have. The kicker is the deciding factor in so man CFL showdowns.

Just curious Ben -- why Vaughn over Richardson at safety? After he came back from injury Richardson performed very well including earning Canadian Player of the Week honors. Why shouldn't the job be his to lose?

I'd like to see Richardson have a shot at winning the job too. With Borhot and Sharun backing up, we have quite a bit of NI talent at safety. But at this point, based on the rumours that Stubler really wants it to be an import spot, and the fact that Richardson may be in tough b/c he is a "DM" guy, I pencilled Vaughn into the role. Like I said though, obviously not basing this depth chart on much.

As for Mitchell, I have him behind Koch going into camp, but I could see him taking someone's job on the line by the time the season starts. Same for Ramsay. My depth chart shows the same starting line as last season, and I expect these guys will be given the opportunity to win their jobs back and are the favourites going into camp. But I'd be surprised to see the o-line stay the same for the first reg. game.

Whitlock/Porter will be an interesting battle to watch in TC for sure.

Curious to see what happens at the import wide receiver position for sure as well. We seem to have signed a few promising players with NFL experience, height, and speed.

With how quickly the new regime is to pull the plug on vets, I have a feeling there is a possibility both Nowacki and Bertrand may not be with the squad for reg. season.

great thread - I would still be setting up like a 4/3 base - but you WILL certainly see plenty 3/4 no matter which way you do it

Stubler is going to go with the best fit for his defense. Whether that be using a NI at safety or corner, and I doubt he'll be resigning himself to either until he's had a chance to view and evaluate all the possible options through training camp. Lots of pieces to the puzzle, but I agree with GWN in that the position is still Richardson's to lose.
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

There are lots of ways to approach the set formation as well. Everyone gets locked into thinking about a defensive set with certain body types for each position in the formation. It's pretty easy to pull up a lighter/quicker body type on an edge and give the appearance of a 4-3 set, or drop back into a 3-4. All dependent on the personnel available or how Stubler wants to deploy them in certain situations.
