Lo and behold, T.J. Hill is back at linebacker. #Eskimos #CFL #yeg

"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

I read that as well...............guess their little experiment didn't work out quite as well as expected.
Any idea who is going to fill that position now?
Will we go back to having a NI at safety?

Any way you slice it, this will likely mean multiple moves for the defence.

Given the emphasis that the Stubler defence purportedly puts on Safety, you'd think you'd want a veteran that understands the CFL game back there. That would suggest Thompson or potentially Alexander are the best candidates, which likely means inserting Weldon Brown into a starting spot (Pittman and Williams being the others) and potentially pulling a guy off of the PR (Key?) or inserting Bradley with little time in the system as a depth move. I believe it was just last week that someone here was speculating about us having an elite secondary.

Hopefully, moving Hill back to SAM will help the coordination between the LBs and the DBs, and along with the expected insertion of Sherritt, likely gives us our starting 4 LBs, but it's far more adjusting than you'd probably like to be doing at this point going into the season.

From my perspective, this is both a product of having somewhat painted ourselves into a corner, an indictment on the recruitment and players for no one stepping up and seizing the job (either Safety or SAM depending on whether this is read that Hill wasn't wasn't working at S or that SAM wasn't complete without him), and implementing a system that wasn't a fit for some of the personnel we had in place. Blame to the management, scouts, players and coaches. It's also quite possible that it's a temporary move until they find another piece of the puzzle that's a better fit.

Doesn't Kerry Joseph have some experience at safety from his Seattle days
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

                  Yep.

Not like anyone could've EVER seen this possibility coming, either.

Harris and culberson didnt pan out, we had to do something

Logic would say that thompson is the most savvy to play at safety

This is really late in the game to be tinkering with our back end. It's not like we had injuries that are affecting us here. It's as you say simply a case of not finding the personnel or them not being able to come together as a cohesive unit. Wonder if we'll be seeing some more blown assignments for TDs this week like we had in the second PS game against the stamps. Not getting a warm and cozy feeling here at all.

Thompson is far better inside as a HB and Pittman never saw the field in either pre-season game because of injury. What a mess.....

What the **** is going on here? Riders have 11 on their PR and I thought you could only have 7?

Hill was our best player on D last year. I thought it was a mistake moving him in the first place.
