    Esks - Bombers Redux GDT

    Reilly named OPOTW.

Esks need to grab hold of the opportunity they have in front of them, how slight it may be, to give themselves a chance at the east race.
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

IMO, it all depends on how long we can stay in the game. I've noticed that both of our wins this year were by 10 points or more; if we want to have any kind of chance, we need to start winning those clutch 3-point games.
Keep an open mind, and you never know who might walk in...

    RIP Pizmo

(Steps inside zone of the highly improbable) - Wouldn't it be poetic justice to the wheaties if the Esks and Stamps played for the GC at Taylor Field...

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

No! Stop that, I've had a bad enough week. It's been ordained that the Riders will win at home.

Playoffs aside. At the very least the Esks need to turn the corner and start improving. The losing needs to stop.

On a side note. Nice to see that Reilly seems to be the guy moving forward at QB. IMO filling the QB position is the #1 most important and hardest position to fill
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

I'm almost... almost... ok with a terrible season knowing that we have a franchise QB going forward to build around.

I'm not ok with a terrible season I'll take a season where we start learning to win in the 2nd half of the season so that he continues to progess though.

We have a QB. We also have solidified our LT with a very noticeable lack of blindside shots that we saw in the last 2 years. O'Donnell is showing the ability to play at a level I wasn't sure he'd get to when I first saw him at RT and will only get better as he gets experience. Krausnick should also improve as long as the guards beside him play consistently. Keep in mind when you subtract Rottier, the rest of the Oline combined has a total of around 25 games of experience. If they can stay healthy and get some help from their coaches in terms of playcalling, they will improve as a unit.

We have a young RB in white who runs very well with incredible lateral motion, who needs to learn the pass pro portion of his game which I'm sure as a feature back at Utah, he wasn't called upon for much. If he learns this and can make it a part of his overall game, look out.

Healthy Bowman = YAC yard ability and favorable matchups vs defenses.

Some good things starting to finally reveal themselves on the O side of the ball

This game will be a lot harder to win. This is as close to a playoff game as any Toilet Bowl could be; the loser is effectively eliminated. Both sides have seen each other now. I say it'll come down to whether the Esks can stop the Bombers on the ground. They've got nothing through the air, and as good as their D-line is, Reilly, Stamps and Bowman won't be completely stopped.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

and on the other side Marcus Howard is starting to look like the old Marcus Howard and not the injured Marcus Howard

I actually think the Oline has not been as bad personal wise this year. The big problems are often no physical ones (as in a guy getting beat one on one). Many problems are scheme related where we simply let guys come free on stunts or by being too cute in blocking schemes.

Our defensive woes come down to a two things. Not a good fit of a coaching scheme vs D personnel in the front 7. Our secondary was suspect from day one, if there was one area we really screwed up in the off season it is this.

I think the gamble they took was to have the front 7 get enough pressure so the secondary wouldn't be as exposed. I agree that for most of the year our coaching scheme neutered this plan badly. Losing Grymes magnified that. I'd still want to see an upgrade over Young and an heir apparent for Thompson so we have someone waiting in the wings

Both the Bombers and Esks will not make the playoffs this year, no matter who wins. Montreal and Hamilton still have games between them and outside of a huge collapse it won't happen.

Montreal sucks. Hamilton doesn't. Ti-Cats will sweep that series.

You're probably right...but I'm not going to lose hope just yet. I think the Als in particular are vulnerable, especially with Marsh hurt. Neiswander has looked pretty bad.

But I know, it's a long long shot.
