Week 7 - Kicking Them When They're Down

This week brings a challenge that's just as big to the Esks as the game vs the stamps. It's been all too common for recent Esks teams to play to the level of their opponent. Montreal is a mess right now and we have to make sure we give them absolutely nothing to feel good about. We need to walk into the building and impose our will and take it to them in all facets. Nothing inspires a lousy team like any semblance of hope and the Esks need to be reminded of the numerous ass whippins the Als have dished out to former Esks teams over the years in Mtl and exact some payback.

With the stamps faulting, the opportunity to regain our share of 1st place is one that has to be seized
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Gotta play 100% all out this week!
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

The Als D is still scary to me. Bowman and Cox always play well against us. I have a feeling we can run on them if we make the effort though. Need our slots to find some stickum and start helping the QB more. I wish Bourke no ill will but it would be nice if he needs a weeks rest and they play an import in his spot. The Als receivers are do not seem to be as good as in previous years.

Well stated Diesel. The Esks need to go into the house with a angry, determined, vengeance filled attitude in this game. On Offense they need to keep a sharp mind and reduce the penalties, but play with a deep purpose--- show the universe that they are the "best team in the CFL." Defense needs to play with absolute hatred... so much so that they may get a few penalties, but in the long run--- domination.

I am not talking dirty football here, just clean, tough nosed, balls out football with a purpose.

It'll be a nice change to have the Esks not play to the level of the opposition...

Another aspect not to be overlooked but unable to measure is the amount of vet leadership that will be required to keep a lot of the new "St Catherines Street" rookies in check and focused on the game.

If I were Als mgt. I'd be at the airport handing out VIP bar passes to the Esks .

The Als' offense versus the Esks' defense...could be a complete and utter train wreck.

But everyone's right; the Esks' history over the past few years is that EVERY game is lose-able. They'd better be sharp.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

This game's on the D. If they give up anything more than 10 points, I'll be disgusted. Montreal's just brutal on the offensive end. Vs a Chris Jones defence, this D should dominate.

But we have to bring it. There's no easy wins in this league.

I really like that this game isn't at 11 AM on a Sunday.

Esks should be salty after the Calgary game. This one *should* be over by half time, anything less would be very disappointing.

And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

I hope they never take any game for granted especially against the Eastern teams. Human nature being what it is, they may relax a bit if they sense early success. Just hope they play their best but upsets do happen from time to time.

I think the schedule works well in their favour on this one, with having the game on a Friday night, and presumably having the team staying out east for the week before the Ottawa game the next night. Easy to "suggest", if not enforce, leaving the festivities until after the game rather than needing to make the most of the night beforehand.

My flight arrives in Mtl around 5 pm on Thursday, and I will do my best to take one for the team and scour the bars of St. Catherines, Peel and Crescent to ensure the safety of our guys.

While it has been reported that Bourke's injury was not as serious as initially thought (Reactive Madani was writing off the Als season before Bourke even got up and walked off the field), but that's no guarantee that he'll be ready to play or be at full mobility (knee). That could be huge against the Esks' pass rush. The biggest challenge we'll face defensively, imo, is keeping Whitaker out of the gameplan for the Als, similar to what we did with BC in the opener. While the Als have boatloads of talent at receiver, they are limited by their coaching, their QBing and, in some cases, still learning the CFL game.

One has to wonder if a home loss for the Als could result in a change in coaches with the recent arrival of "consultants". It will be interesting to see how much The Don's input has on his mentee's success in attacking the Als offence.

Good work GWN. Make sure those guys toe the line. Have a great time at the game.

As for the game, keep the foot on the throats all the way through. Don't let up. BONE.

Does anybody know if this game will be televised in the U.S., and if so, on which network? I've tried to look for it, but the always up-to-date CFL site only has info from all of 2013 and July of 2014.
Keep an open mind, and you never know who might walk in...
