So after the LDC series we all know what most of us thought we knew, and that we're not quite ready for prime time. But that's ok. 3 years ago we weren't even ready for overnight.
Lots of change in the landscape of the west as of today. Lulay, done. Durrant, done. And while we endured a raft of early season injuries, we're now starting to get healthier, even through or record setbacks.
Every team experiences ups and downs in a season, and the trick is to get it all sorted out and on the upswing as you get into Oct and towards the playoffs. If this is our mid season stumble, then I'd rather it happen now with opportunities to get it squared away with games left to start building momentum.
The defense has to get stuff shored up as the LDC series exposed some weaknesses that other teams will try to exploit, namely the wheaties with their run game. The offense has to get healthy and frankly needs a piece or two to find a spark. Besides AB our WR core has no fireplug. Stamps may or may not return to the Stamps of old, but I can safely bet that EH/CJ are not holding their breath hoping that it happens. They're on the hunt. The problem lies in a lot of players not wanting to give up on their NFL dream having just been released and the glitter of early season NFL injuries providing opportunities while they may be fresh in NFL coaches/player personel minds.
I'm less concerned about the returner side of the return game than I am with the lack of cohesion and holes being opened by the foot soldiers. Fix that issue and the production will come
The Als come in on their season best win streak, and we have to make sure that comes to a sudden and thudding halt. I expect the Als to be loose and energetic, while we might be snarly and just maybe a little on the tight side after back to back losses. Simply put we need to find our stride and our swagger again and the only way to do so is to get back to basics and outwork and out play the Als.
This is a big game, regardless of the records.
