I come in peace, not trying to stir things up or anything. I am kicking around coming up to cheer my greenwhites at the WSF on Sunday. It will just be me, so I am looking at the single seats behind the greenwhites bench. I've never sat very low at Commonwealth before, but I notice there are a few front row seats available. What is the view like from the front row? I know at Mosaic Stadium it isn't the best, but I thought with the track it might not be bad. I also figured, the lower I am the better chance I am to be out of any sort of wind and stay a bit warmer.

Re: Commonwealth Seating
I used to have season tickets behind the Eskimo bench back in the day (row 7). My personal opinion, I liked being close to the bench because you got to really see what was going on with the team; thing I didn't like - it was really hard to see a play develop because of being at such a low angle. I'd prefer anything above row 20. Still, a fun experience. and lots of energy down there.Originally posted by Shootmaster_44 View PostI come in peace, not trying to stir things up or anything. Re: Commonwealth Seating
Very true. Also, looks like the seat I was looking at is in Section P, so I may be looking through the bench most of the game too. The other thing I was thinking is that I'd hazard a guess that the closer you are to field level, the less rowdy any Eskimos fans may be. I've never had huge issues with fans beyond having peanut (or whatever kind of nuts) shells thrown at us. But I've never gone by myself, so I'd rather not deal with the rowdy drunken idiots (that live at every stadium including Mosaic Stadium) that will be there to cause issues.Originally posted by Nextyear View PostIt depends on if you want to see the play develop or be closer to the action. I prefer row 20 or higher in the lower or the first 10 rows of the upper bowl. I sat once at field level and I found it was too difficult to see the whole play.

Re: Commonwealth Seating
I use to sit on the 55 yard line behind the Esks bench at row 12. It was greayt to hear the bench, but it wasnt the best to see the play develop. Now I"m in row 31 and can see the play develop and much prefer sitting there than by the benches...Originally posted by Shootmaster_44 View PostI come in peace, not trying to stir things up or anything. Re: Commonwealth Seating
I decided on Section Q, Row 14 so I am probably far enough from the bench that the players won't be standing on the bench in my way. At Mosaic Stadium I am used to Row 7, as that's where my buddy's season tickets are, so this won't be bad.
Now the next question is where is the will call window? My printer is toast and there's no Ticketmaster outlet here in Lloyd. So the logical thing is the will call window. So coming from the LRT station, where do I go?
Since I am picking up tickets, has anyone had an issue with taking the LRT without their physical ticket in their hand? I figure if I am dressed in Riders gear, the transit cops won't bother checking and after the game, I'll have my ticket. I usually park at the far north station (I forget the name right now), so I figure I should be fine riding 4 stops to Stadium.Last edited by Shootmaster_44; 11-12-2014, 04:25 PM.

Man, there are drunken idiots in every section I would think. I would like to believe that there are less rowdy's down below, but you never know My suggestions:Originally posted by Shootmaster_44 View PostVery true. a. Buy a cheap ticket and find some empty seats around some Sask fans and sit with them.
b. Go to the Sask fans forum and ask who is making the trek for the game and where they are sitting. You might be able to purchase a prime seat in their neighborhood.
c. Wear green and gold and cheer for the good guys

Good luck - enjoy the game (as long as we enjoy the final score more than you!)Originally posted by Shootmaster_44 View PostI decided on Section Q, Row 14 so I am probably far enough from the bench that the players won't be standing on the bench in my way. Re: Commonwealth Seating
If you are there by yourself just cheering your team on instead of being an obnoxious loud mouth braggart, Esks fans will typically leave you alone even in the higher sections other than possible taunting when the Esks win.Originally posted by Shootmaster_44 View PostVery true. Generally, we don't have that many really drunken idiot fans anymore unless they are Saskatchewan fans coming to our game.
We don't have the "cool" factor that Saskatchewan has making it the crazy gong show.
Spreading college corner throughout the building I think calmed it down a lot. My seats are by the old college corner and it used to get pretty heated there as there were the college drinkers and since there are a lot of available seats we often would have a lot of opposing fans creating a sometimes hostile environment, but I haven't seen much of it the past two or three years.

Just in case you get a jerk transit officer on your train/in your train car who didn't make the EPS training cut & has something to prove --Originally posted by Shootmaster_44 View PostI decided on Section Q, Row 14 so I am probably far enough from the bench that the players won't be standing on the bench in my way. Do you get email on your phone? Or can you take a pic of your confirmation email on your phone?
You have 3 choices for your tickets. When you come off the train, after you have crossed the road you can veer left or veer right for the Will Call windows on that side (east side). They are essentially on the "corners." Alternatively, you can go further left to the Esks team store (by the entrance to the CW Fitness Centre) & they will print your tickets for you. I would take either of the 'left' options. Always crazy lines at the north east Will Call window (if you veer right).

Re: Commonwealth Seating
They don't check often, but when they do, you'll be fined if you don't have proof of payment. So it depends on if you are a gambling man. You'll have your ticket for the way back, so is $3.20 for a 10-minute one-way ride worth reducing the chance of getting a $200 fine?Originally posted by Shootmaster_44 View PostSince I am picking up tickets, has anyone had an issue with taking the LRT without their physical ticket in their hand? Haha, I think I know one of them but he'll be at the game lol. But yeah good idea, I was going to try something with the confirmation.Originally posted by Smartie123 View PostJust in case you get a jerk transit officer on your train/in your train car who didn't make the EPS training cut & has something to prove --

Perfect, I think I have it figured out then. The Esks' site doesn't do a great job of talking about CW itself. Granted, I haven't looked at any of the other sites either, but I know most NHL sites have a fairly detailed page about their arenas.

That's not bad advice actually. I guess if nobody has ever figured a way around it via confirmation of ticket purchase and had it pass the test, I have no issue paying it. Just figured if someone had used the confirmation or whatever then I would do that too.Originally posted by nafnikufesin View PostThey don't check often, but when they do, you'll be fined if you don't have proof of payment. Re: Commonwealth Seating
Sec.Q - row 14 eh?
I wouldn't suggest being one of those obnoxious wheatards where you've settled on. I know a fella over there, and he ain't keen on loudmouth jerks.
Behave yourself, and be a respectful fan, and you'll be fine.

Re: Commonwealth Seating
I don't drink at games and I cheer when the Riders score. But otherwise, I am respectful of where I am. I cheer/boo the on-field stuff, but truth be told of all the other Western teams, I hate the Esks the least. I don't make a show of myself, but it is entirely possible on a long Rider run that I will stand up and yell, go, go, go etc. But especially since I am sitting behind the Riders bench, I won't be yelling at players, except if they make a bonehead play and even then it would be the Riders I am yelling at lol.Originally posted by Opus View PostSec.Q - row 14 eh?

Re: Commonwealth Seating
In the many years they've been offering the free LRT I've never seen them ask for proof of tickets and if anything I've seen them telling people NOT to buy tickets at the stations.
Have fun. Enjoy the trip from Lloyd! Any excuse to get out of the border city is a good one!Once an Eskimo, ALWAYS an Eskimo.
