Re: Gagner Traded To TB For Purcell
Good luck Sam. Perhaps an environment where you're not under the microscope every day will be helpful. There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Re: Gagner Traded To TB For Purcell
Purcell is 28, decent underlying numbers though Gagner has a better career PPG so he's not going to light the lamp a lot. He's a good size, but not a bruiser. Two more years at 4.5 each...pretty much what Gagner had.
Sucks for Sam who had a NTC kicking in on Tuesday."No one entertains the thought that maybe God does not believe in you." - Bo Burnham

Re: Gagner Traded To TB For Purcell
Interesting story from the Tampa Bay Times...
General manager Steve Yzerman had hinted that with a glut of forwards, he was considering moving one to free up salary cap room. And Purcell had a $4.5 million cap hit the next two seasons.
But Gagner, 24, has a $4.8 million cap hit the next two seasons. If Tampa Bay doesn't put Gagner on waivers or pursue a buyout, it won't be clearing any money.
Purcell, 28, played five seasons for Tampa Bay after being acquired from the Kings. He had a breakout year in 2011-12, with 24 goals and 41 assists, including a great playoff run. But Purcell has been a relative disappointment since. A very skilled offensive player, Purcell had 23 goals combined the past two seasons.
Gagner has 101 goals in seven seasons for Edmonton. He had 10 goals and 27 assists and was minus-29 last season. It will be interesting to see, with so many centers on Tampa Bay's roster, whether he is moved to wing.

and this...
Hearing PHX, which recently bought out centre Mike Ribeiro, is a possible landing spot for Gagner. Stay tuned.

TB has traded Sam Gagner to PHX, I mean Arizona. In any case, Gagner is a Coyote. #TSN
