Ahh yes....the therapist helped....Good. Your Tourettes will however be triggered again by weak goals and wild dancing in the crease by goalies in blue, white and copper colours, bad giveaways and lastly someone named Craig Mactavish putting out Steve Staios, Jason Smith and Todd Harvey for a shootout or something along those lines.

I wish we would see more Sens game on hockey night in canada instead of being forced to watch the leafs every freaking saturday.
I don't even watch the first game anymore. Watching the leafs every freaking saturday isnt fun and listening to Bob COle and Harry Neal, tell me how the leafs are gods gift to hockey every saturday night, got real old, fast.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

Exactly. WHY? The leafs are all but out of the playoffs, Buffalo is already locked it up. Its a completely meaningless game. Want to know why so many western people hate the east? There is another reason. The leafs, probably the most hated team in canada and the poster team for the east, is forced down the throats basically everyone in the country whether we like it or not. I don't mean to get political, but to me, its just another example of the east and most noteably, the center of the universe T.O what this country should think and like.
You don't always see Vancouver games as the late one, there are the NUcks, Oil and Shames, all splitting that late game, why dont they do the same for the early. Im no fan of the Habs either, but it would be nice to see the Habs, Sens and leafs in the early game, instead of just the leafs game.

I'll tell you why. Because there are more Leafs fans in Canada than all other teams combined.

But in the east they have different CBC's. French CBC gives you the Habs and then alot of the times they show the Sens game to Ontario viewers only while the bloody Leafs are nationwide.

The leafs are like that really crappy song you hear on the radio, a 1000 times. IF you see the leafs enough times, eventually, you learn to like them.
But to your point. The CBC is supposed to be the nations TV station, not Toronto's station. They should split up their broadcasts equally between the teams. There are alot of Habs fans across canada too. Both teams have been around since the early 1900's, of course they have a large following. Still doesn't make it right to be so bias to one team, plus they don't share the tv money around equally either.

I disagree. Look, nobody hates the Leafs more than me. I'd rather see Calgary win. But by showing the Leafs they ARE being the nations TV station, because Leaf fans infest every city in Canada like termites.

My point is, the leafs are not the only team in the country. The Sens are apart of canada, are they not? The Habs are apart of canada, are they not? Everytime the Habs are in town, half the building is Habs fans.
I don't know what the population of Alberta is currently, but for my example, lets say its 2 million. Their might be 20000 leafs fans in the province. To be on the safe side, make it 50000 in Alberta. That works out to be 2.5% of the entire provinces population based on my numbers. How does that represent the majority? 97.5% using my made up numbers dont like the leafs but they have to watch them?
Lets go way out on a limb and say that 10% of the entire hockey watching population in canada, likes the leafs. What about the other 90%? How does showing a leafs games for the 10% represent what people want? Are there alot of leafs fans, yes their are, they are one of the oldest teams in the NHL. BUt it still doesnt mean they should get the lion share of the coverage.

The reason the Leafs are always on: People watch it. If people were truly fed up with the Leafs always being the early show, they wouldn't watch, and the CBC would try to mix it up. It ain't broke for 'em, so why should they try and fix it??

Personally, I don't watch the 4 PM game, so I'm doing my part.

jcr is getting rep from me when I get the chance again......he is telling it like it is.

My guess is that you are off on your numbers. I would say it is more like 10% for the other individual teams aside from Montreal and Toronto.

That is 10% for Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa. That leaves about 60% between the Leafs and Habs, that is likely split evenly at 30% (and this is IMO being generous to the other teams). The Habs have the french CBC feed to themselves, nobody out here bitches about the Habs being on there because nobody out here watches the frnch CBC feed except for the Habs fans). That only leaves one team that plays out of the east (you know 2-3 hour time zone difference, hence always getting the early game) with an english audience to choose between Ottawa and T.O.......when there are easily 3X as many Leaf fans....who do you think they should choose?

Then you have your 3 western teams who split the games between them fairly equally for the late game.

Also of note, it is ridiculous to say "the Leafs are crappy this year"......it doesn't matter, the schedule is set at the beginning of the year and as far as all the canadian teams go over the last 15 years only one team has been consitantly in the playoffs, if you were basing a broadcast schedule on a teams strength, this would be a large mitigating factor in choosing who to cover, not to mention getting coverage of traditional rivalries.

I just repped several of the Maple Leaves haters and loyal Oilers fans on this thread. Not all, mind you, but several. Sorry if I missed you. The Oilers are still in it. In fact, I say they make the playofs. Anyone want to bet against them, contact me. I still have hope.
