Why was a gun in the house. People are so stupid.

Sounds like he was pretty fond of guns... tragic development.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

I suspect there was a gun in the house because he wanted it for home security. South Africa isn't exactly like living in Red Deer...Like it said near the bottom of the article...there are 50 murders per day. (didn't say how many of them were gun related) but that seems pretty high. Even though he lived in a gated community - between his "celebrity" status and the rough and tumble ways of the area anyways maybe he was wondering when Jimmy Shaker day was going to be?
Tragic if he murdered her...but if it comes out that he thought she was a burgalar...that would make it that much worse.

Police have said that they've had a history of visits to the residence for domestic issues..... not cool.

Terrible story. Always hard to believe how someone could do such a thing.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

Yup. Still baffles me how things can get so violent so fast...and how some people are either drawn to the cycle of violence or perpetuate it. Some get beat as kids, and then beat their kids because that's what they grew up with and it keeps going. Others beat their kids and their kids either get involved with/marry someone that beats them or their kids and the circle continues. Then when you throw in a couple sidearms and the "ease" of which to kill someone - it just makes it that much worse.
Had a neighbor at my old condo - they were either fighting (like throwing each other through patio doors fighting) or bonking (like porn soundclips type bonking)...cops were there all the time.

Are you guys following this trial at all?

He claims he thought he was shooting at an intruder...that, apparently, hid in a locked bathroom?!?!?

And Oscar...when you woke up and saw / heard the noise of this so-called "intruder", you didn't notice that your super model girlfriend was NOT in the bed next to you...?

                  PUH-LEAZE...

Yeah, I'm following this. I don't believe his story for one second.

They also found a spent cartridge in the hotel room (where they think she was shot in the hip before running to the bathroom), and a bloody cricket bat (her head was bashed in too).

Seems like a pretty unrealistic defense.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

Yeah, all points seem to lead to him going off the rails and killing and beating her in some order.

The bloody cricket bat stuff is weird, cause if the damage was as bad as it's made out it must have been done post mortum... and if that's the case, it destroys any defence of his as that would quite obviously not be accidental.
