I figured with Hall being the coach, they were taking a page out of the Riders play book and hiding guys they didn't want to lose on the 9 gamer. He appears to be the replace for Pre probably next season so its a good way to "pay" him but not count on the cap or lose him.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

So we'll going with an import RB this week. Interesting.

        Why do you say that?
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Pre might play for 2 more years. Can you afford to keep him that long? Toronto release Vanderjagt and he is about the same age as Pre. I think the move by the Esks is to keep Shiv away from other teams.
If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

Whitlock? Isn't he playing? I know he could go on IR.

I wonder what Jim Davis did to get into DM's/Hall's doghouse. I think he played well enough last year to have a position on the team and am amazed he is not even on the PR.

I think he is playing...according to CFRN last night, he was on the 46 at least, IIRC.

He better keep improving his leg strength a whole bunch or we'll need a kickoff specialist.

Wonder if we had anyone who could pull a Bret Anderson (say Nowacki, or maybe Bertrand) and do that.

Vanderjagt is almost 4 years older than Pre.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

What makes you think that a player was in the doghouse just because he didn't make the team? The competition at camp was great this year, and warranted a real tip of the cap to the management and scouting staff that found and signed a lot of talent. I liked Jim Davis, but I also very much like the guys that we kept around, including Xzavie Jackson on the PR. If he were truly in the doghouse (didn't like his work ethic, attitude or ability), he wouldn't likely have been brought to camp.

Pre is actually the better part of 4 years younger than Vanderjagt (35 to Vand's 39), and besides, when one person decides to retire or has that decision made for them is pretty irrelevant to when it is time for another. There are O-linemen in this league that will be at the peak of their career well into their 30's, and others that are retiring before they even get there.

The move to stow Shiavone is more likely to buy time on the decision as to whether and/or when it's time to transition.

I'm not entirely surprised with this, and I would expect that he'll be on the 42. Whitlock gives us such a different weapon than either Lumsden or McCarty and could be useful against a veteran D-line that will have seen lots of film on Jesse and Calvin.

I would expect that he will be in and out of the lineup depending on matchups and whether we want the extra import receiver in.

No kidding, they tend to put them on the 9GIR by the bushel instead of 1 at a time
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

He could go on the 4 man reserve, or make the active roster and play ST's and situational spots at TB.....hard to say......

Yes, that was my point. It looks like he may play, and if he's activated it makes sense to play him in the backfield at least part time.
