Nope--just can't play in the games. Can probably practice if physically able.

So he could still be a factor in the room.

He can still be around the team and in the locker room...not like the 9-Game bans him from the stadium or anything...
Although I seem to remember only a limited amount of people being allowed on the sidelines...

This seems a little fishy, but okay.

This does smell fishy. Who knows what's going on in DM's mind, but does this not take Kp's salary off the books for now? If it does, I would not be surprised to see KP's injury being a "season-ending" injury after the first nine games are over. They've got to pay Kelly Campbell somehow. I told a buddy at the beginning of TC that I thought the cheaper of KP and Talbot would be retained with the more expensive being let go to save some cash, and then Campbell showed up. Don't put this past Little Napoleon!

Is this not what a GM is supposed to do? Manage the Cap. KP is still getting paid full salary so financially he's not hurting. So what's your problem?

Riiiiight. Because those three have been tearing up the league. And with Talbot new to the system, I'm not even sure if he's just a player, or if he cares about being an Eskimo and leading as well.

                  Precisely.
Kamau had a mediocre season last year and is hurt. Bottom line is that Talbot can do what is needed out of that spot. They just need to look his way some more.

I think we may have seen the last of KP in an Esks uniform.

I think you should be very careful what you say around here. People know who you are.

                        Re: KP8 on the 9-game?

From what I remember about the 9 game list is this: The salary does not count against the cap, unless he is taken off early (each team can do it once in each half of the season). If this happens then his whole salary counts against the cap, I believe this was a way to keep people happy (player is ready after 6 weeks but can't play yet VS hiding a guy on the 9 game list and magically being OK if someone gets hurt).

This is a bad break for KP. I have not been able to see any Esks games this year, but last year he was not getting the ball. I do not know if this was by design (other guys being the number 1 reciever) or if he is just not getting open. He turned around his carear from the incompleterson days. Hopefully he can come back better then ever.

Talbot hasn't shown that much so far. We'll see if he can step up to the plate - I hope he can. KPs shoes are big ones to fill.

As for you latter comment... that would be a shame. KP came to the Esks and proved the naysayers wrong with 3 things: Excellent play; Stalwart character; Respect for team heritage.

When times were bleak after Tucker went down in Hamilton, it was KP who stepped up not only his game but his leadership. We all saw that with our own eyes. So I repeat, it would be very unfortunate if this was the end of KP as an Esk - and even worse if if were the end of his career.

                              Re: KP8 on the 9-game?

To end the speculation, for me it's really just nice to finally have confirmation on something that has been plaguing me since training camp 2009. Playing the entire season on that achilles tear was the hardest thing I've had to do as a player, and that includes playing with a gambit of breaks, pulls and strains etc, simply because the position I play requires so much stress on that tendon. To have to premeditate each step was unbelievably exhausting and I don't wish it on anyone. If I would have known that it was a tear, I wouldn't have played on it obviously, and I understand why you never hear of people playing through that particular injury. But in doing so for that long, and then through the offseason regiment that I put myself through to rebound from that year, all without knowing the true nature of the injury, it inevitably caused more damage in another partial tear during this training camp. 6-8 hours of outside treatments all over the city just to get it to the point where I could hobble around on the field in the first two games, and it finally became enough for me. After the Montreal game, I felt that it was selfish of me to be out there on one leg when we had capable players who could fill in. On one leg, I'm just not dynamic enough to help the cause consistently.

That being said, I'm glad to have finally had an MRI and to know definitively what this thing is that has kept me from walking and running normally for the past year. I'm also very grateful that I was able to catch it before it became a bigger problem, or a rupture...and early enough in this season that I can come back for the last 6 games of the season and the playoff/grey cup run.

As for the rest of the things you guys are speculating about, Some I don't feel it necessary to touch. Andrew, Andre, and Brad will do a great job in their respective roles as they are all quality players in their own right.
And I will continue to do what I have always done for this team, try to be a voice to those needing it, and a guide to those seeking. And when I am healthy again in 10 weeks, I expect as you can the same player you saw in 2007 and 2008 at the very least.

If anything my confidence is ballooning now knowing what exactly I was playing through last year. For me to get almost 800 yds on one leg, I have to grin at the prospects of getting back onto 2 and really helping this team again.

Stand behind this team, and they will find their stride.

Thanks a lot KP8, it's really good to get the real scoop. Please know that you're one of the fans' most valued players on this team, because you know what it means to be an Eskimo.

Here's to hoping you'll heal quickly and well, and come back twice as strong!
