Same thoughts here. However, if one needed to go, I'd keep Porter.

        Porter is the goods.

          Yes, he is.
Maciocia, Hall, Strasser, Hairston and Thorpe are finally all gone. The rest will take care of itself.

Good luck Kavis Reed and the rest of the Esks' new coaching staff!

I see TJax getting the boot and one of them doing returns. Tristan didn't really blow any skirts up last season, although injury kept him on the sidelines quite a bit. I'd hate to lose either one of them...

...and hard to keep both happy. Having that depth can help secure other assets to build this club in other areas.

I also have no worries about handing the rock to CMac in case of injury either.....

Find a way to keep them both. Use Whitlock as a returner. Try some novel offensive schemes to keep defenses off balance.
Yeah, it would be nice to have a way to keep them both and have them on the field if it can be accomplished with ratios. I realize the NFL is much more run oriented, but maybe look at how Miami managed to keep two good running backs happy and getting reps in Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. Maybe by having two good backs on the field at once, they can also do put in some motion, and compensate for Ray's lack of running prowess to add another element in keeping defences guessing.

                      Re: Whitlock or Porter?

They really are mirror images or each other, I would think the best move in my Rider fan opinion would be to trade the lower value Porter for an outstanding reliable, excellent blocker (help to protect RR) type player like Wes Cates. Now with the vertran presents or Wes Cates, the Esks would likely have to throw in a mid round 2011 draft pick as well to keep the trade fair for both sides. I think Taman and Tillman would both make that deal.

Sorry have to disagree with you here. When AW went down last year and they tried to hand the job to CMC he did not blow my socks off and I think the coaching staff may have agreed with me here since they went out and got Porter and got him onto the roster as quick as they did. If CMC was doing the job then Porter should have only seen the field as a backup. Don't get me wrong CMC is a great asset and can get the job done as a blocker and catching out of the backfield but as an every down runner when defenses are keying on him as the featured RB will he be able to average 5 - 6 yards a carry? I don't believe he is ready for primetime yet at least not IMO.

Both AW and DP have proven that they can be stars in this league running the ball as a result I think you need to keep both. It is my opinion that since AW is a little older and has experience as a returner that you may be able to keep him happy by giving him the return duties along with every 3rd or 4th series running the ball. If Calgary can do it then why can't we? Also I really get the feeling that AW is a team guy and will end up being a career eskimo if given the chance. If they both get in there and are kept busy I really believe that they can both be effective running the ball and if one of them goes down to injury (and remember both got hurt last year) then you have a stud available who can carry the mail. No sir IMO you keep both.

Also to those that are stating that DP is the younger RB and we should jettison AW then my question would be what do you do if DP signs an NFL contract next year. He's only 23 and because of that may get a shot. I say you keep both and worry about next year next year.

Cmc is a different style of runner to porter or whitlock. You cant compaire the three. Cmc is gonna run a zone different to either of the speedy bax.

Im pretty sure porter was brought in for the ratio aspect, rather than cmc's ability

calvin does have fumble issues but they can be fixed

Shocking that we have a position with legit top end talent in abundance........Snifffffffffffffffff. I'm just going to take in the rarefied air for a few moments.

I'd keep Porter, the guy was fantastic last year. Really a nice problem to have. I wouldn't trade Whitlock unless a nice deal was offered, RB's get hurt with great regularity.
