If the EE are so high on female fans, then why....?

It seems that the upcoming home game is being billed as 'ladies night', and the Eskimos are celebrating the fact that "34% of their fanbase are female". As a female Eskimo fan, I am of course happy that the team is realizing that there are many of us Eskimo crazed chicks in the stands. But I wonder....
After losing a bunch of weight my current jersey is only of use to me in the winter when it goes over 5 layers of other clothing. So I went online searching for a ladies jersey.

Guess what, they don't make them anymore!!!!

So much for catering to the girls.
Any other ladies out there who find the message from above a bit frustrating at times? I personally am tired of the assumption that we women fans are either not knowledgeable or just accompanying our male partners to the game and people watching rather than game watching.

Congrats on losing weight, always a tough thing to do. What concerns me more is the 'race' they're holding for the 1 carat diamond. I feel this is degrading and should be changed to mud wrestling.

I know you don't post a lot...but just about a month ago, Spectacle (another female fan) had the exact same rant.

I know that when I worked at Game on Sports a few years ago, women's jersey weren't very popular. Most women seemed to prefer a men's Small over the woman's jersey. I think that partly because you cant put cresting on the woman's jersey tho.

This is the case for me... I am not really a fan of the female jersey's. I like the t-shirts and stuff, but prefer the look of the men's jersey's.

Just as an FYI though... If you are looking for something more fitted by a receivers 'game worn' jersey. They are tapered and they wear them tight and are not really that much more expensive than a regular crested jersey.

It's great that the Esks are recognizing their female fans ... but I don't like the idea of a race for a diamond ring. Not every woman in the world wants a diamond ring; the only ring with diamonds that I want is an EE Grey Cup ring!!!

And they are bringing back the cheerleaders from the 1980's for the game tonite! WTF? Don't assume that female EE fans want to watch the #*$&#&$ cheerleaders! In fact, please just get rid of the cheerleaders altogether!

We go to football games to watch the actual game, support our team, and the only real prize tonight is a victory over the Lions!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know a lot of women who prefer the cut of the regular jerseys and actually find the female one to be somewhat sexist. Perhaps they didn't sell enough of the latter to continue.

Just buy a men's jersey. Do you really want a pink Ricky Ray jersey? Lol.

As a male fan who attends most games with my 12 year old daughter (who understands the rules of the game and enjoys football) let me just say how very disappointed I would be if they did get rid of the "Cheer Team" which is the way I think of them rather than cheerleaders. If it was just a dozen girls or so waving their pom poms around and providing us with eye candy then I'm with you they really don't add anything as far as I'm concerned but the cheer team themselves who perform their great acrobatics I find I really enjoy especially during breaks in the action. That portion of the group in conjunction with the cheerleaders add great atmosphere to the game.

The one area the esks could really improve upon would be the band as far as I'm concerned. There are some bands at US college football games who in combination with their great playing/uniforms/movements (their not sitting down but rather moving around) really make the in park experience different from watching it on TV and make it a fun experience.

This is where I think the esks or possibly the league (someone posted here once that they are mandated by the CFL to have all those contests, etc) are really blowing it IMO. This is a gate driven league. They survive by putting bums in the seats as their TV contract is not as lucrative as other pro sports leagues. With all their games on TV they need to make it fun to come to the park. The pauses that happen throughout the course of a game is the perfect time to do this. Really how much money does the team make off of sponsers by picking the right pizza or building a baconator? Better to keep fans involved and make it fun so that they can tell others and get even more fans out to the game rather than watching it on TSN.

When I took my 6-year-old daughter to the pre-season game, she paid no attention to the game but loved the flips and acrobatics of the cheer team, and was really upset that we didn't sign her up for the mini-cheer team that performed at half-time. Personally, there was a time when my raging hormones paid more attention to the cheerleaders, but I don't pay much attention these days. Still, I think the Esks Cheer Team is the class of the league compared to the other team's cheerleaders which pretty much just wave pom-poms.

We don't have cheerleaders, we have a dance team. You are lucky.

You can't have either of mine!!!

I felt bad for the ladies when Sheetz kept screwing up what was going on...not very organized at all.
Also felt that the Cheer Team Alumni were still better than the cheerleaders from Calgary any day!

Sheetz should be fired for the screw ups during the ring contest.
