Re: Congratulations to the Edmonton Eskimo management team

which playoff team is whitlock and porter playing for? they are still in the league right?

Congrats Messam on the 1000 yard season. To me, you are the epitomy of the ET crew changes, high risk - high reward.

Congratulations to all Eskimo fans, espically all those that gave up their season tickets, you now have a reason to cheer for the team that is NOT the team you grew up watching but is a team hosting a playoff game.

That just sounds so right, the Edmonton Eskimos hosting a playoff game, either the West semis or the West final will be my very first time attending a Eskimos playoff game.

Whitlock isn't playing for anyone that I know of. Porter is playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats play in the Canadian Football League, the same league as the Edmonton Eskimos. The Tiger-Cats will be playing in the Eastern Semi-Final next week.

Congratulations to you in your attempt to stir up some controversy. Perhaps we would all have been better served if you ended your rant a sentence or two earlier.

The posters on this site are nothing if not classy...really what does insulting lifelong eskimo fans who made a difficult, personal, morally based decision and who still pull and care for the team in their own way accomplish? It's amazing to me how in many cases it's a member of the pro ET team who fire the first shot...how about focusing on the part where we are all Eskimo fans instead?

Very good 1st year overall. Some very good management moves, some terrible ones, some very good coaching some really bad coaching in the end you can't argue with the results. If we can build on what we have then this team will look very good next year. Now back to watching Cowgary try and choke away a game we need them to win.

11-7 and making the playoffs with mistakes along the way is better than the last few seasons have been combined.

I'll take the mistakes and a home playoff game over anything else so I think this management team has done just fine for itself, with rookie coaches in new positions.

Derail a thread that includes congratulations to the General Manager in the title, tell you what, I would rather have ET as our GM than have him as the GM of another team in this league. There is no drama, this is about production, performance and results.

CONGRATULATIONS to Eric Tillman for having the courage to bring in a first year Head Coach, Kavis Reed and orchestrating of one of the most aggressive rebuilds in recent CFL history. No Tillman, I would put money on the fact that the Head Coach right now would be Rick Campbell and we would be watching the playoffs from television again.

We are a work in progress.

not trying to stir controversy, stating my opinion, should I ask permission next time?

I'm NOT a fan of Tillman, I'm a fan of team doing whatever it takes to win.

You know, one of those guys that blindly follows his favorite team because of the old fashioned belief of that's what you are suppose to do.

We'll never know, but I'd have definitely bet you on that and even given you huge odds. I'd also bet you that we'd be in the playoffs as well. I'm quite confident that our other GM options had better head coaching candidates than Rick Campbell. The sum of the parts this year has helped pave the way for continued growth. I hope we get to see it, and congrats to all involved on moving forward. Right now, we've got a playoff game to worry about though & that's a good thing

Hey how come everyone is piling on RC all of a sudden? I thought he did a great job this year and besides IIRC didn't ET interview RC at the beginning of the year for the HCing job? Doesn't mean he was ever going to give it to him but he must have seen something in the guy to even give him an interview. I personally wouldn't be surprised one day if RC did get a HCing shot somewhere in the league (and I believe that ET said something similar when he was asked about interviewing him). He might even surprise some people.

Happy for the players and coaches, who worked hard no doubt.

Being privy still to certain things that have gone on behind the scenes this season hasn't changed my stance on the GM one bit. It it good to know however, that the media is starting to figure out some things with him, although they may not come out and say certain things publicaly, his behind the scenes rep is following him....

This thread deserves a little boost...congrats boys, job well done!

Did you hear Duane Ford say that there are 25 new players on the roster, that is amazing that Reed/Tillman and the management team were able to find players who were able to embrace the Eskimo Way on and off the field.

Purely from a football perspective (even if you dislike the guy otherwise) Tillman has done a tremedous job this season. Having the balls to hire a rookie HC in Kavis Reed with pretty much all the media and many CFL fans(including myself) questioning the move has proved to be one of the major turning points of the season. In addition, most of the trades/player pick-ups management have made this season have turned out pretty good. Can't wait for the WF!!

Last I heard no one here was appointed judge and jury on Tillman.

I could less less about TIllman's personal life he got us to the playoffs and a win so that is good for me. If things down turn out for him then that's too bad but my focus and most fans should be on the team and not the personality.

Some people's convictions can be bought and sold for wins on a gridiron, others can't. To each their own I guess. For me, no amount of success can wash away the stink ET carries from past incidents and his behind the scene actions since coming here.
