    Esks ink Stamps to new deal through ‘13

    (Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed All-Star receiver Fred Stamps to a new contract, the club announced today.

    Stamps was the Esks’ leading pass catcher in 2011 with 82 receptions for 1153 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games. It was the third consecutive season that the New Orleans native has cracked the 1,000+ yards receiving mark. In five seasons with the Esks, Stamps has 325 receptions, 4,818 yards and 27 touchdowns in 75 regular season games.

    Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says, “Fred has demonstrated time and again that he’s a special talent and we’re very excited that he’s chosen to continue his career as an Edmonton Eskimo.”

    Stamps has earned CFL Western Division (2009, ‘10 & ‘11), CFL All-Star (2011, ‘09) and CFLPA All-Star (2009, ’10, ‘11) honours. He was entering his option year under his previous contract.

      So, if everybody who leaves the Eskimos does so, at least in part, due to their distaste for Uncle Pervie, does this mean that Fred Stamps, at least in part, likes ********Mod Edit***?

        The resigning of Fred is great news and establishes the cornerstone of the dressing room and a non refutable offensive presence on the field. What the hell is your problem that you have to be so darn disrespectful to a guy that has been nothing short of arguably the best receiver in the league not to mention a great guy?

          Nice to see Fred back. Can't imagine this team without him. Does not seem to be much of a long term deal. Just the standard one plus one. Maybe Stamps wants to see how the QB situation here works out. Seems a little odd that such an important signing is announced so late in the day. Welcome back ,Fred.

              that's so funny. When I saw the email, all I saw was "announcement regarding Fred Stamps" and I got frickin nervous. So glad to see him back in Green & Gold. Hope he's healthy and ready to go for another great couple of seasons for the Eskimos!

                Ray was signed through 2013, too. I wonder which bag of balls Toronto will give us for Stamps.

                          I didn't say which part. I would not sign on the dotted line to work for a man that I didn't respect. I have zero tolerance for convicted pedophiles, and therefore no respect. Others may have a higher tolerance level, and will cash their Tillman cheques with a smile on their face. All the power to them. Just doesn't agree with my stomach.

                              Just as some fans will prostitute out their morals for a few W's in the standings, some players will prostitute out their morals for a good payday. Having a pedophile running the team, that informed fans know is only interested in signing former riders to prove how smart he was as the rider GM, at the expense of his current team, will only scare away players of a certain moral character. Some of us refer to them as True Eskimos.
