If the Ricky Ray trade was simple stupidity and/or revenge on the part of Tillman I can accept that. If however the CFL is working with Toronto to engineer a winner, then every team in the league should be pissed off. Cue the X files music.

The story has more or less come out by now. If there was any conspiracy, it happened through Tillman, and Tillman alone. No one else on the Esks was a proponent of this deal. I just can't believe that ET was forced to do this.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

ET traded Ray because of ego, but there's another component. He certainly undervalued what Ray brought to the offense. Despite what some may say, when you look at ET's history, I really don't think he had a friggin clue how to properly evaluate talent. I honestly believe most of his successful recruitment/trades were the result of luck, or relying on someone else's input in the evaluation of players.
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

This. Barker knew Tillman's stupidity and weakness and played off both.

It's been known that pervie's method for finding players is less about proper talent evaluation and bird dogging, and more throwing excess players against the wall to see if anything sticks. His routinely bloated rosters are a prime example of a strategy that has a limited shelf life wherever he goes
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

I must admit that I have always thought fairly highly of Tillman but you do making an interesting point here. He had bloated rosters in both Saskatchewan and Edmonton while the ownership in Ottawa would not allow him to have that which perhaps, among other things, contributed to his lack of success there.

One could also argue that Don Matthews was more responsible for Toronto's Grey Cup win in '97 than Tillman was and that Tillman more or less won in '07 with a team mostly assembled by Roy Shivers. That leaves only the '94 Lions Grey Cup win as one that Tillman could take a lot of credit for.

Speaking of Matthews, Diesel, are you still in touch with him? Has he ever said anything about Tillman that you could share on here?

Mohns and Matthews assembled that powerhouse Argos team, including their first win. I haven't spoken to him recently, but am making efforts to reach out with the latest news regarding his health. Don didn't care for pervie one bit
