I think this because he seems like most coaches - a guy who likes to challenge himself. He's from down south, so I'm sure that could be enticing as well. I'm not sure if he's a guy that wants a GM position, but as a coach I'm sure he wants to keep improving his craft. As great as the gig of HC of the Esks is, it certainly is not a lifetime position.
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

Well then you and I have very different ideas as to what it the criteria ought to be in terms of selecting the most outstanding player in the league. Generally I wouldn't give it to a QB of an 8-10 team that played only half the year and didn't exactly play lights out over that half-season. If it's all about leadership then the coach of the year should also win the MOP award.

I would just like to take this opportunity to say that the Stamps will most certainly make it to the Grey Cup game this year.

You should be able to spot them in the nosebleeds at IGF if the camera points them out.
Keep an open mind, and you never know who might walk in...

No, but they certainly can be a long term position.
Remember one key thing, Jones is not only our Head Coach, but also our defensive coordinator as well.

It's one thing to look for new challenges, but it's pretty clear that he also isn't ready to cede the duties from the control of coaching defense yet either. I can't see him looking to put more hats on, when he's still holding pretty tight to some of the other hats he's still wearing.

Maybe the HC gets to the point they have a well oiled machine, great coaches entrenched, management that keeps things happy happy in the office...and they like where they are. If he keeps following his mentor, Matthews, he might not want anything to do with the biz of football beyond coaching and recruitment. DM never wanted to be a GM but did want the last say on who took the field for him. I see EH/CJ working in step with this type of scenario

I hope you are right. I'd love nothing more than to see Jones/Hervey continue to re-story this franchise. I guess the point I was trying to make was that since Ray Jauch, the longest serving Esks head coach was Ron Lancaster at seven years, which is a long time in football and a short time in a job that you love. Everybody goes sooner or later. At least we don't have to worry about anything right now.

A bit surprised with Ojo, he was good but was not sure he was all star good. The rest are pretty solid choices.

If Hervey keeps this team up where it is now over the next few years I could see him getting some interest from down south. Not as a straight away GM but to be in some NFL front office. Not sure if he would have an interest in that but he's certainly sharp enough and has gained a lot of experience the last few years.

Most impressive and encouraging part of that list is that 2 years ago we had no idea who Dexter McCoil, Derel Walker and John Ojo were.

I'm not surprised at all. Ojo was targeted early on in the season as a rookie, and he made teams pay for it with his early INTs and knockdowns. Last year it was Watkins in that spot where teams went away from him, and it earned him an All Star nod for it, and this year it's Ojo.

Exactly. Hervey has proven to be a very solid GM, and the tandem of Hervey and Jones will hopefully pay dividends for a long, long time if the BoG has any brain cells at all.

If the green-whites found a QB when they were 0-10 who won the rest of their games you wouldn't think he was playing lights out?
How on Earth could a QB come in and win 8 straight on a team that lost 10 straight not be considered outstanding?
