His star fell so, so quickly. I really don't understand it; seemed like his skills would withstand the test of time better than most.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

I would have to wonder if this is the end for Freddy. If so, I would absolutely expect that he'd be signing a one-day contract with the Esks to retire in Green and Gold. I regret that he exited prior to us winning the Grey Cup, as I really would've liked to see him get a ring after sticking through the lean years. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to be the type of guy capable of transforming his game to a different role... an under-appreciated skillset that has prolonged many careers.

Tough day for Freddy no doubt. I will always remember him as one of our best. A bright star in some dark years. We had quite a few years with not a lot to get excited about but he could do it for us.

Maybe a coaching position with the team is in his future,, that would be awesome. Time will tell I guess.

Good luck in the future Freddy.

Sign him and give him a ring too. I know, I know but it would be nice.

I really wish he would have survived one more year as an Eskimo, and had gotten to be part of that Grey Cup. Stafford was fine and did his job - great early in the season, and added some needed speed to our group. However he was the 3rd of 4th option by year end and probably won't be back next year.

Not sure what happened to Freddy's game. The old cliches about getting older - losing a step, more injury prone... It seemed like early in 2014 he was fighting an injury, and when he started playing he missed a couple catches. Tough catches in traffic granted, but ones that he used to be reliable at hauling in. Not sure if that was just a streak of bad luck, injury related, or mental, but it must have sent red flags up the organization. After that he didn't get the ball thrown to him very often. They also moved him to wideout at times (Montreal used him there as well), and in that position he had less chance to utilize his sneakiness and had to rely on speed alone (and he was never the fastest guy).
As you say, GWN, his game didn't translate to a different role. He wasn't fast enough to stretch the field as a wideout, not big enough to block downfield effectively, and doesn't have a role on Special Teams to warrant a spot as a backup Receiver.

Sounds like about the same as Dressler was going to get with Sask, minus the bonus due last week.

Rider Nation is about to experience spontaneous combustion over the Dressler signing. EVEN FOR THEM, going from offering to have his first born (when he was a member of the team) wanting to stab a voodoo doll made in his likeness (now that he's a Bomber) is simply too much hypocrisy for them to handle.

its a minoroty of casual fans that don't understand the business side and big picture of football. It sucks a fan favorite had to be cut but reality is if the contract was a rich as it was we were in trouble. Jones is putting his mark on the team and I'm trying to avoid getting caught in individual transactions at this time, I think a wait and see what the team looks like at season start is the only approach to take.

Most of the real Sask football fans I know are rolling with it and giving Jones and crew the benefit of the doubt. No pain, no gain. I'm sure it's tough to lose two favourites like Dressler & Chick. Lots of unhappy people when Freddie Stamps got moved here, but it was best in the long run.
