but the year we have had… it’s just all indifferent
roll on 2024
I would like to see a rehaul of the D's philosophy. I hate the 3 DL pressure and zone D. How many times did we see WR wide open time and time again. Wasnt there a 2nd and 2osomething for Montreal and they made it back in one throw - to a wide open receiver? Like I said before if those 3 guys aren't hurrying the QB - they will find the open guy every. damn. time.
Which leads me to the next point. Rehaul the Dline. As a whole unit I feel its not just good enough. Cesena is better inside - yet we have him outside... unless he's crap stopping the run.... We have good players.. but we lack that dominate Dlineman.
Special teams......
See ya Faithful.. We need a kicker we can trust and who can kick past 40 yards without every fan holding their breath and hoping.
Return game....sigh.. who else is getting sick talking about this ?// Every ****ing year its the same ****. I'm not one to believe in curses.. but damn its been a craptacular showing for years on years.. maybe there is a thing to the "gizmo curse"...
I made a effort to watch other teams return game... They get the ball and go. No hesitation. UP THE MIDDLE-ish. Where do we always go? Sidelines. You can't tell me some of the guys we've had wouldn't be able to make 1 guy miss if he swung it wide?? If you need to stop to see how your blockers are setting up instead of just busting your ass forward then the return game isnt for you.
If I was a special teams coach I would have Gizmo films for them to watch how its done.

I agree with keeping things as they are, but Jones needs to stop being so damn stubborn. He'd be a far better coach if he could. Here's my top three terrible "I'll do what I want" moments from Jones this season:
1. Hanging on to Stephen McAdoo. Too loyal to underperforming coaches (and players) who have been with him too long.
2. Healthy scratching Tre Ford at the beginning of the season was stupid - and if he let McAdoo make that call - even sillier.
3. Making a 36-year-old rookie Global our kicker, and then not letting him kick anything "too long" so his confidence doesn't get rattled is ridiculous. Kicking is too important in the CFL for this crap.
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

2. I like to think of it that he was protecting him from AcAdolt.
3. Kicking game is pathetic. To hang your season on a 36 year old rookie from over seas and not kick past 40 is asinine.

This loss is mostly on special teams giving up a 9 point swing on one play and a free 3 points to Montreal on another. In theory, those two plays go the right way, the score is 24-23. Special consideration to the offense as well giving them 10 free points as well.
Also back to back games with 0 or 1 points from the offense in the second half. Showing signs of some of the issues that existed before Ford.Last edited by bone; 10-16-2023, 04:45 PM.

5tech: Ceresna
NT: Pelley, Charles-Pierre
3T: Curtis, Acheampong
Jack: ?
WLB: Shakel, Appolon, Appolon, Brodrique
MLB: Morgan, Jones
SLB: Makonzo, Dominique, import
They will need to send a LB every play, enough with the three man rush.

I think they showed enough late in the year to allow Jones to come back. I’d like to think guys are still playing for jobs next year, but the gas runs out a bit when you’re eliminated from playoff contention.
I still think the DBs are a bit inexperienced, the linebacking corps could use some playmakers, and another legit rush end would complement Ceresna and Leonard.
Offensively, I thought the line was adequate but feel they could upgrade talent there. Korte seems a lock and Boyko stepped in to play well but I’d definitely be OK with some churn at guard.
I’m not sold on Sims returning and while Faithfull seems like a decent kicker with a good story, I’m not sure there aren’t better options.
Is it next year the Elks have some relief on the football ops cap? Extra coaches and maybe some more scouting support may do wonders for Jones and the team’s progression. If the rumours about Craig Dickenson coming back to coach STs after a Saskatchewan parting prove true, that may be a valuable add.
